Most people living within the coastal lines of River Erie are aggrerians and fishermen. They do not do any other occupation and over time it has become part of their lives. Most of them are also good in swimming. This is expected as somebody living close to a river should know how to navigate the waters.
For decades now the government of the day has been mining crude in the deepest part of the waters. Most times the fishermen suffer from their activities because they usually apply many chemicals which usually affect aquatic lives.
Those who plant are not exempted from this melee. The soil around the river which they usually plant vegetables and other edibles started becoming acidic. Their all-year-round farming was heavily impacted.
Then one morning a dreaded report was released. River Erie have been polluted from an oil spillage. The spillage was of great magnitude and its attendant consequences will result to everyone evacuating the coastal lines for years until a proper cleanup is done.
Many thought that this was a joke but not until they started seeing big sea animals floating on the waters, dead and oily particles floating on the river banks. With these fears crept into their minds and massive relocation began. Nobody wants to die. But the most important question remain unanswered: what will these inhabitants do so as to sustain their lives?
