I agree with you that after I'm gone I don't think it will matter to me whether I'm remembered or not. I think people, during their lives, like to think they will be remembered well but i think that's just ego. The reality is that very few of us will be remembered much past a generation or two after death.

So many things are driven by ego that it's often hard to tell if they truly deserve our energy; at least, that's how it is for me sometimes. Besides, who knows if in two generations robots will be ruling the world and people won't even think anymore?
I think you're probably not far off the truth with that robot comment; people seem so intent upon AI and don't seem to see the dangers.
