They don’t warn you how grief settles into your bones. How it doesn’t just weigh on your chest—it slows your feet, muddles your mind, and rewrites your routine. I’ve been away from the trail lately, spending time helping a friend’s family through the hardest goodbye. And then… finding the energy to help myself.
But today, I walked again. Just one. Just 7 kilometers. But it felt like miles of memory and emotion in motion.
The path along the water felt familiar, but also new—quiet in a way that whispered healing. The sun dipped into the trees like a candle fading into golden sleep. Even the reflections on the canal seemed softer, kinder. I didn’t power-walk. I wandered. I breathed. I remembered.
And for the first time in a while, I didn’t just move—I felt moved.
10k steps. One more toward the light.
