Today’s episode brought to you by: “What the hell just happened?”
It was a typical winter walk, sun slicing through trees, ice reflecting everything except the chaos brewing just around the corner. My son and I were on our last stroll of the day, soaking up that golden hour glow. Then, from stage left: enter drunk cyclist.
He nearly collided with us, and in what I can only assume was his interpretation of fear and shame, he flipped straight into rage. Verbal abuse, threats, and then trying to get physical, because why not ruin everyone’s evening? I tried the calm-and-reasonable approach. It flopped. Cue the 911 call.
Police came. He ran. End of story? Nope. The guy decided to wait in front of our house. So we hit replay on that emergency call, and the cops had to run him off a second time and even a third time. Not exactly how I pictured ending a peaceful photo walk and day.
And yet… despite the madness, nature was on point. The light was dramatic. The cormorant posed like a pro. Ice patterns were like shattered mirrors. Beauty and chaos, side by side.
The walk streak survives. The adrenaline will wear off. And hey, I got some killer shots.
