Freelancer life is a weird cocktail of “freedom” and “you’re never really off the clock.” Case in point: last Tuesday. Fresh off a not-so-glamorous week of being horizontal and doped up on Dafalgan and cough syrup, I dragged myself back into office life. Voluntarily? Not really. Needed? Unfortunately, yes.
But here’s the silver lining. While my immune system was still negotiating peace, my DJI Mini 3 Pro was wide awake and ready to roll. And boy, did Lot, a small village tucked into Beersel, just south of Brussels, show off.
This isn’t your typical pastoral Belgian postcard. Lot brings wind turbines, warehouses, canals, and just enough mist to feel like you’re flying a drone in a Ridley Scott movie. Add a sunrise and you’ve got the kind of lighting that makes even fatigue look poetic.
The Photo Dump: A Cough-Infused Masterpiece
Let’s take a little scroll, shall we?
📸 The golden canal serpent — Meandering through the scene like it’s trying to escape the 9 to 5, the water reflects the morning like a mirror that’s still waking up.
📸 Wind turbines at dawn — The industrial giants standing tall, probably doing a better job than me at functioning that day.
📸 That boat in the lock — A visual metaphor for my brain trying to push through deadlines while medicated.
📸 The view from the ground — Let’s call it “cough-syrup chic.” I nearly dropped the controller here. Worth it.
📸 That sweet panorama — Lot in all its sleepy, misty, weirdly-beautiful glory.
Gear Used:
- DJI Mini 3 Pro
- 1 tablespoon of cough syrup (possibly expired?)
- 2 Dafalgans, chasing the dream
So what's the takeaway?
Sometimes you show up even when your body’s like “nah, man.” And sometimes, you get lucky, with good light, a quiet village, and a drone that doesn’t ask if you’re okay. That’s freelancing for you. Beautiful, blurry, and just a bit absurd.
Be like the drone: fly anyway.
