In my country, we only have two major seasons which are the dry and rainy seasons. The funny thing about these seasons is that they all have their good and sad sides, lol. For the dry season, one would always have to leave home with Vaseline or one would look dry like a reptile. Dry season is also a dusty season meaning one can't have fresh breath but rather dry and dusty.
Now to the rainy season which I kind of hate the most. Currently we are in the rainy season right now and to be honest, I wish it could just fast forward to dry. I'v had several unhappy experiences with this rainy season and I'm about to share one of them with everyone now.
One morning after I had dressed up for lectures, I noticed the sky was cloudy and that's a sign of annoying morning rain. I tried my best to leave the house as fast as possible, I even had to miss breakfast just to evade the rain but it was to no avail, it rather seemed like the rain had already planned for me.
Sadly we only had one working umbrella at home and that was already being used to take the kids to school.
I rushed out and with a walking pace I had never tried before. In my mind, I prayed two prayers and one of them was that the rain should “chill” and secondly I prayed that my trousers would burst open because of my walking pace. But it seems only one of the prayers was answered, which was about the trousers because before I could make it to the main road, I received a heavy knock of raindrops on my head. I knew it was over but I tried to maintain my “steeze”, my composure so I didn't run at first.
Later on when the rain started to get heavier, I saw everyone running and in my mind I was like, “Bro, cut down this steeze of yours and pick a race or you'd get wet man!” It was more like a reflex but I didn't know when I began running even faster than people who were ahead of me.
On getting to the main road, I saw the biggest bombshell. Everywhere was flooded so much that even the gutters and drains were covered.
Tricycles and other means of transportation had to park their vehicles to avoid accidents or faults in the engines due to excessive flooding.
While standing and waiting for the rain to subside and the flood to rush down to the drains, I also saw other students and pupils who were stuck in the rain too.
Those indifferent or should I call them “nonchalant” drivers who drove in the flood had their vehicles stuck in the flood. Some of them had to step down and push their means of livelihood(taxi/tricycle) to safety, lol.
When the rain subsided but the drains weren't still exposed, I took off again. A lady warned me to wait for the drains to be exposed but I had confidence in identifying the drains since that's the street I often take back from school. I began walking in the flood and some pupils walked behind, to them I would serve as the “scapegoat” in case of any danger.
I had not even walked an inch after which I plunged one of my feet into a deep hole and shouted “Yoo!” Immediately the students walking behind me left me immediately and ran back to the dry land.
It was funny but it wasn't funny because I sustained serious bruises on my knee and shin region.
After that incident, I concluded that day was just a bad day and so I returned home immediately. I didn't attend the lectures I planned to, I rather went home to work on my wound. I put all the blames on the rainy season.
