Over time, we observe the evolution of society, technology, and the dynamics of production and consumption, which keep the capitalist wheel turning. In this ebb and flow of advancements, we see some things becoming obsolete, for one reason or another.
This is clearly seen in the evolution from cassette tapes and vinyl records to CDs, then to DVDs, and finally to streaming. These changes, driven by technology, bring lasting impacts on society.
Another example is typing, originally done on typewriters, which didn’t allow for typos. Nowadays, digital typing enables endless editing, tolerates errors, and even suggests corrections (depending on the program used).
Based on these examples, what would be considered obsolete professions for which it may not be worth starting a higher education program?

Language Studies
The first thing that comes to mind is language courses. While language knowledge is always useful for an individual’s autonomy in the world, anyone considering studying languages to become a translator should seriously rethink their decision. Tasks involving multilingual communication have been completely taken over by artificial intelligence. Hospitality
A significant portion of hospitality work has shifted to self-service by users, whether through the new dynamics introduced by Airbnb with self-check-in or the flexibility users now desire, preferring to manage their bookings digitally rather than waiting in line for a live representative.
In fact, in general, we might consider that front-desk attendants are becoming less necessary in the modern world.
Teachers
Sadly, national statistics indicate that there is low demand for teacher training programs in Brazil, with many vacancies unfilled in both federal and private universities. Another interesting fact is that more than half of the students drop out before graduation.

The best students drop out of the program because the diploma holds little value in the job market.

Ao longo do tempo vemos a evolução da sociedade, da tecnologia, e da própria dinâmica de relações entre produção e consumo, que é o que mantem a roda capitalista girando. Neste vai e vem de aprimoramentos vemos algumas coisas se tornarem obsoletas, seja por um motivo ou outro.
Isso aconteceu, e vemos claramente, na evolução do K7 e Vinil para CD, depois para o DVD, e finalmente para o streaming. Essas mudanças vem impulsionadas pela tecnologia e causam alterações permanentes na sociedade.
Outro exemplo é a datilografia realizada através das máquinas de datilografar e que não permitia erros de digitação. Atualmente, é claro que sabemos que a datilografia digital permite a edição infinita do nosso texto, aceitando erros e até mesmo sugerindo correções (a depender do programa usado).
Tomando por base esses exemplos, o que seriam profissões obsoletas, para as quais não é interessante iniciar um curso superior?

Curso de línguas
A primeira coisa que me vem à cabeça são cursos de línguas. É claro que para além de ser um conhecimento útil para a própria pessoa na sua autonomia perante o mundo, qualquer pessoa que vise estudar línguas pensando em ser uma espécie de tradutor deveria repensar seriamente sua decisão. Essas tarefas que envolvem a comunicação em diversas línguas foi completamente dominada pela inteligência artificial. Este texto que você está lendo foi construido em língua portuguesa do Brasil e traduzida para o inglês pela inteligência artificial.
Hotelaria
Uma fração significativa do trabalho de hotelaria foi assumida pelo autoatendimento do usuário, seja pelas novas dinâmicas de relação impostas pelo Airbnb com auto check-in com pela própria flexibilidade desejada pelo usuário, que prefere acertar detalhes de sua hospedagem de forma digital e não com um atendente presencial que só ficará acessível mediante uma fila de usuários esperando.
Na verdade, de forma geral podemos pensar que os atendentes em balcão estão sendo cada vez menos necessários no mundo moderno.
Professores
Infelizmente alguns números nacionais apontam que existe baixa procura por cursos de formação de professores no Brasil, com muitas vagas não preenchidas tanto em universidades federais como na rede privada de educação. Outro dado interessante é que mais da metade dos alunos desistem do curso antes da formatura.
Projeções dizem (precisa avaliar esses dados) que em 15 anos faltará professores formados para atuar na educação básica, que é o primeiro ciclo de ensino de crianças até a juventude.
Uma profissão em extinção pela falta de respeito ao profissional.
Triste realidade brasileira!
Informática
Infelizmente vemos uma situação curiosa nos cursos de Sistemas de Informação, Desenvolvimento de Sistemas e demais áreas correlatas ao que vamos chamar de informática.
Esses cursos são muito procurados e todos sabemos que o mundo está se movendo graças ao avanços constantes de produtos e serviços gerados na área de tecnologia. Sim, isso envolve também as evoluções nas viagens espaciais recentes.
Ocorre que os melhores alunos são rapidamente absorvidos pelo mercado, que não está interessado em educação formal, e sim nas capacidades individuais. Dessa forma existe uma pressão muito grande para o estudante se dedicar a empresa, muitas vezes relacionada a mudança de cidade, e desta forma ele evade do curso.
O melhor aluno evade do curso, pois o diploma não tem valor pro mercado de trabalho.
