You think you know nothing until you meet someone who has not been exposed to your same stage. Also, never assume you know too much or you will sooner be downplayed by a more exposed person. In my case today, the former was the case and I was the bank of knowledge. It can be very surprising how many are unaware of technology trends even when they are at least exposed to the Internet.
It depends on the area of the internet you choose to fuse in yourself anyway. I am a lover of tech, economics and business. Personally, I never saw this coming during my teenage days. Maybe I wasn't paying that much attention, how come I never failed business studies in my entire junior class?
That was bytheway, let's get to the main conversation that spurred this article. I was just having one of those good time busy days in the office when a branded ‘sign out’ shirt was admired. Someone just came around to see how work was going in our production floor. It was branded by us for a customer to be used for her Sign out day in the university. We are in such seasons currently, such photos and videos are flying on social media. I even had to send a congratulatory message to one of my colleagues back then when I was employed.

She was whaaawwed that someone was finally graduating, my reply was a like chuckling; ‘the government better pile up the jobs for this new recruits they are adding to the labor market’. It sounded funny but it was something to be considered, where are the jobs? That was when I started expanciating to her how difficult the labor market is and how harder it will be courtesy of AI.
She was curious to hear about artificial intelligence and its potential to disrupt industries. The layoffs have been massive, I told her, I have read of news were companies laid off upto 20,000 staff.
That was when I saw the fear and future uncertainties running over her face. She is currently planning of entering the university probably by Next year so you know how the entire statement was sounding in hear ears; ‘am I just going there to waste time, effort and money. I know she must have probably heard of AI or had even used it to generate some photos without caring much that this tech is doing so much to improve industries. Its improvement is in the process introducing lots of compulsory retirements.

My intent was not to scare her anyway but I feel she is fortunate to hear such talks today. If she is smart enough, she will do further research on what I just tipped her on. I had to expose her to the fact that there are professions that are currently outdated. Consider walking with a translator in your pocket. How many languages can Chat GPT meta.ai and the rest translate currently?
It is one of those things, even architects and quantity surveyors are going to face huge competition in the future. AI can draw you a good sizable plan with cost building estimates.
ALL I was saying was still like a film trick to her, maybe I should have asked her what she is intending to study; at least to see how she could blend the industry with AI to her favor instead of against. I learnt something today, a lot of sensitization programs must be hosted to keep teenagers and youths up to date. It was one of those things I was saying even during the entire conversation, why schools are not taking such sensitization very seriously; perhaps, it will spoil business for them. A lot of courses need to be scrapped out in tertiary institutions currently.
To conclude, let me add,a lot is happening surrounding the world of global economy yet it seems few are currently aware. Personally, I feel I should individually sensitize as many people as I come across about AI and what it holds for the future. Many are just Moving about with smart phones without knowing the needful trends of technology. My target is the youth, it is better they are scared with what is true rather than continue with these educational cover-ups that had kept many in a rat race. The labor market will continue to shrink, AI will take many off the market, your relevance will be on how you’ve have evolved yet the big pity or formal education is that they are sticking to the old ways
