Our weather temperatures have been rising daily for about a week now. Todays max was about 25°C. Not at all bad for late April! A great chance for a late afternoon cycle, which I really enjoyed.
With the sun getting low, the shadows were long, and cycling into the sun was a problem in places when entering woodland, getting temporarily blinded!
It was a great time to go out, though, and there were plenty of other people about, running or walking, especially at Tilgate Lake, where I briefly stopped on my return route.
The following photos show a few things I came across today while cycling through the forest trails. A large iron tank, which must be very old as it is well corroded.
Mountain bikers are always busy here building their downhill courses through the woods. I cycled up part of a course (there's no way I am cycling down. Too dangerous!) 🤣
My route today was a little shorter but much more twisty. I used to ride this route a lot years ago, and it was fun to do it again. Less distance, but harder to ride.
There are a lot of tree roots and fallen trees to negotiate. Some can be jumped over, but others have to be passed by.
More obstacles are shown in the following puctures.
There are open spaces, too, where electric pylons are standing. Quite a sight in the sunshine and refreshing to get out of the woods as well.
It was a good ride this afternoon in great conditions. I like cycling in the evening. It certainly builds an appetite up! I always take a snack with me, but I was quite hungry when I got home 😆.
