Ifield Mill Pond was bursting at the seams with wildlife today! What a sight! I even managed to get a great shot of a heron from the walkway, which gives excellent views of the birds.
Another shot across the lake shows a large bunch of geese on the lake and another large group on the bank opposite. The picture is not zoomed, so it's a little difficult to make this out.
The geese are causing damage to the banks. There is evidence of erosion all around the lake now, especially where they come ashore to feed on grass, etc. There are now very large areas of bare earth where grass used to grow, and this is allowing the soil to wash away when it rains. It is quite worrying to see.
