We knew it was due to rain today but we had a few dry hours in the morning to enjoy so we headed off to a quaint seaside village called Rottingdean, tucked up between the rolling hills of the South Downs.

There is a great deal of history connected with this little place, and some interesting places to visit another time when it is dry. We will definitely come back again to look around the Rudyard Kipling gardens.

The water lilys were lovely, looking very healthy on this well kept and tidy pond.
The weather closed in shortly after these pictures were taken and we had to beat a retreat to a local pub for lunch. Sausage and mash! Yum!

When we left to drive back over the hills, the cloudbase was so low that we were driving in fog!
