Chanterelle Cantharellus cibarius - edible mushroom

in FungiFriday11 days ago (edited)

One of the most common mushrooms in my area is the Chanterelle. For me, it's the easiest to pick because it's easy to spot and grows close to my house. It really takes me 10 minutes to go to the forest and when they're ready to pick, I fill my basket very quickly.I always pick mushrooms in a basket so they don't break and the flavors don't mix, and I also do it as a precaution to make sure none of them are poisonous, because they can break in a bag and come into contact with other mushrooms. And one more piece of advice I would give you, never pick immature, young mushrooms. Always wait for them to grow to be sure they are good and non-toxic.Today I only picked chanterelles.

Its color varies from very light to dark yellow, and fades with age. In adults, the hat reaches a width of ten centimeters and is usually irregular in shape.
I find this type of mushroom most often in dense forest, under bushes and shrubs. They are often covered with a thick layer of fallen leaves. They are very comfortable with moisture, so they can be found not far from streams and in dead places.

There is no need to wash it, just clean it from the soil. It can be eaten fresh, and it can also be dried, salted or frozen and saved for the winter. This mushroom is very beneficial for the human body, protects it from infection and strengthens immunity.
It grows in clusters so you can harvest it very quickly. I like to stew chanterelles with lots of onions and homemade bacon and pour eggs over them. It's so delicious I'm already hungry. I pasteurize them in jars and eat them as a salad in the winter. I tried drying them but I don't like them. They have a neutral taste

I hope that I have introduced you well to this type of edible mushroom, although there is also a false chanterelle, it has a very thin stem, do not pick it.

Hello, dear friend @dragan195

What you say makes perfect sense—about collecting the mushrooms in a basket to prevent them from breaking and contaminating other species.

Beautiful mushrooms! It was definitely a great day of collecting.
