10th December 2020, is when we moved aboard Somerset and 3 days later left our home port, that was also a new beginning, something drastically changed in all of our lifes.
We were going to sail around the world!?
Plane leaving Canada
At the time it didn't seem like anything significant, even though lots of people were telling us how life changing this journey will be. But after settling into a 9-5 and setting into one city in germany, i can definitely see how the journey has changed me. 4 years of seeing so many countries meet so many incredibly people, seen indescribable nature and so many things that i will never forget.
I will forever be grateful for having such a life changing opportunitty.
But now my Life begins and it cant be without.......
A Boat
Yes, this is my new baby! She’s 11.8m and built like a tank (steel). I absolutely can’t wait to get my hands on her and build her the way I want to. I’m the second owner of Rebel — the first owner actually built the boat in his garden. She has already done two Atlantic crossings and is built to sail the high seas, especially in the South Pole and North Pole, and yes, that will be the plan after Germany. I want to do the Northeast Passage, the Northwest Passage, and also Antarctica. Rebel is coming with me!
I’m really excited for what’s to come. The previous owner has thought of everything, so the boat is super secure.
My content will change a little for now, but not for too long, as there are some upgrades I want to do on this boat — and they’re very interesting. For now, the boat is in Holland, which means I need to sail her over to Bremen and then move aboard.
I’m confident this is what I want, even though I’m still figuring out my life. Being on my own feet is different, but exciting. I’m sorry for the lack of posts — life’s been a rollercoaster — but I’m slowly but surely settling into ‘normal’ life.
In the meantime, I’ve got a lot of other posts prepared which will be coming out over the next few weeks, so stay tuned as I take you guys with me onto this new chapter.
