The afternoon sky felt so expansive, as if opening up space for the mind to wander further than usual. The sun slowly set, casting a golden light through the thin clouds. Amidst the dimming rice paddies, stood an ancient tree trunk that had lost much of its original shape. But that was precisely where its beauty lay.

I stared at it for a long time. There was a sense of calm that was hard to describe. The tree might have died long ago, or perhaps it was just a remnant of a once-green and lush past. But it still stood. Not fallen, not lost, still a part of this simple landscape.

The afternoon breeze blew gently, carrying the scent of damp earth. Birdsong could occasionally be heard in the distance, as if complementing the peaceful atmosphere. In moments like these, I felt time pass more slowly. Everything felt sufficient, without the need to rush.

Sometimes life is like that tree. It's not always in its best condition, not always full of leaves and flowers. There are times of loss, there are times when we feel empty. But that doesn't mean it's all over. As long as we're still standing, still holding on, there's still meaning we can give.

This afternoon taught me that beauty doesn't always come from perfection. Instead, it's from simplicity and perseverance that we can find deeper gratitude. And under the slowly changing sky, I learned to accept each process as it is.
