Recycling items is one great way to avoid unnecessary waste of things and it is even a good way to save and make some money. There was one time I watched on the news of a recycling company that based on collecting cans of items to recycle them into new products and that is how they make good sum of money. For the fact that they produce so many items just by recycling, they were also now able to provide employment for some youth in the society. Recycling of items is one aspect of opportunity that I feel a lot of persons, myself included have not really explored yet.
For this second edition of the hivelearners recommended topic, we have been asked to share our RECYCLING PRACTICES. Like I said earlier, I’m part of those people who are yet to fully explore the opportunities that are in the recycling of some items like plastic items and other items. Interestingly, I always find myself purchasing items that are packaged in these forms but I always ignore the aspect of recycling. Well, this is obviously because we don’t have any known recycling company around so I don’t even think to that direction.
But.. the good thing is that a lot of people are beginning to explore and know that there is more that can be done with those plastic cans and even tin cans that we dispose. Walking to and from school, I usually see some people going around looking for recyclable materials and that is how most of them make their money. These people already know a company that needs or that sells these materials to those who can recycle them, so it is now their job going around looking for these materials.
Interestingly, I once met a man who built his first house with the money he made from selling recyclables. It was quite an experience for him though but he was happy he could find a career in that. For me, the last time I recycled some items was about two years ago. My dad usually comes home with tin milk. So, instead of throwing away the tin cans, we always stored them somewhere until they are enough and my brother takes them to sell. We made some little cash from it and it was totally worth it.
There are reliable recycling companies in my country but they are not many and mostly, they are located in most big cities and even the local ones are not quite known so I can’t say for them being reliable so a lot of persons don’t even think of exploring that option. But then, that is where those people who go around to source for these things come in. By throwing away our waste, they get the opportunity to take out those items that can be recycled and make their money. Unlike me, I don’t use the recycling option often so all I do is always try my best to dispose my waste properly.
I know how harmful most recyclable items can be to our environment so I always try my best not to just dispose them as I like. I most times keep them with me until I find a place conducive enough to dispose them. Most times, I also try to dispose those things in places where I know people go to seek for those kind of things for recycling. So, indirectly I have helped someone, hehe. But then, recycling materials is good and it is one practice that I will love to explore in the future. There are so many things that we can get from recycling items but due to the limited people exploring that opportunity, so many people don’t take advantage of it, like me.
