Hello everyone, a few days ago I received a new book from this collection I've been slowly building up, and at first glance, seeing its vibrant cover and embossed design, I couldn't help but think it would be an action-packed story or one based on true events. So, I was quite surprised when I opened it and discovered it was a compilation of very interesting and emotionally charged poems that really caught my attention. So, taking advantage of this, today I'll share with you about this book called "How to Shoot Against Death" by Juan Gelman.
Hola a todos, hace unos días pude obtener un nuevo libro perteneciente a esta colección que he estado poco a poco completando y, a primera vista, al ver su portada con colores vibrantes y el relieve que posee, no pude evitar pensar que se trataría de una historia con acción o basada en hechos reales, por lo que no pudo ser más mi sorpresa al abrir y llegar a ver que se trataba de un compilado de poesías muy interesantes y con mucha carga emocional que llamó la atención. Así que, bueno, aprovechando esto, hoy les compartiré sobre este libro llamado "Cómo tirar contra la muerte" de Juan Gelman.
Juan Gelman was an Argentine writer who, in addition to his poetry, worked as a journalist, translator, and active member of political-military organizations. This led to his exile from his country, and although he returned, he chose to spend the rest of his life in Mexico, where he delved deeper into his literary works until his death. This book covers a portion of his life's journey through his emotions, exploring each process, the pain, and the challenges he faced. It is a valuable addition to the "25 for the 25th" collection, created to promote reading, which began its first phase of distribution last year.
Juan Gelman fue un escritor de origen argentino que, aparte de dedicarse a la poesía, se desempeñó como periodista, traductor y militante activo en organizaciones político-militares, lo cual lo llevó a ser exiliado de su país y, aunque este volvió, decidió pasar el resto de su vida en México, donde profundizó más acerca de sus obras literarias hasta su fallecimiento en el mismo país, por lo que este libro abarca un poco de ese recorrido de su vida a través de sus emociones, tanto de cada proceso como del dolor y el enfrentar cada momento que pasó, siendo un muy buen elemento que forma parte de la colección "25 para el 25", creada para fomentar la lectura y que está en proceso de entrega en su primera etapa desde el año pasado.
The cover itself, with its vibrant colors and simple yet striking artwork, already hints at the intensity found within. Like the other books in the collection, the back cover offers a brief explanation of the book's contents, along with a short biography of the author. Inside, bearing the official Fondo de Cultura Económica seal, we find over 30 poems and writings, ranging from short and profound pieces to lengthy letters filled with passages that convey emotions such as pain, resilience, strength, and the breaking of molds in their creation. Some even evoked a desire for a second impression.
De por sí, su portada, al tener estos colores vibrantes, aparte del sencillo pero llamativo arte visual, ya nos transmite un poco de la intensidad que podremos ver en el contenido del libro, donde, al igual que los demás de la colección, en la parte posterior de esta da una breve explicación acerca de lo que será el mismo, así como también una pequeña biografía del escritor. Junto con los debidos sellos del Fondo de Cultura, e internamente, se nos presentan más de 30 poemas y escritos que van desde cortos y profundos hasta cartas muy extensas llenas de segmentos donde se puede percibir parte de la emoción, como el dolor, la resistencia, la fuerza y el romper esquemas al escribirlas; incluso hay algunos en los que sentí esa sensación de querer tal vez una segunda sensación en estos.
It's one of those books that doesn't take long to read, and precisely for that reason, it allows us to focus on the poems or writings that most capture our attention. One of the things that surprises me is the emphasis this collection places on poetry and the transmission of emotions in its installments. In this first stage, there are many authors dedicated to this area and in diverse styles, which I personally find appealing because of the variety and the lack of categorization in the collection, as it allows for exploring many different angles of reading.
Es de esos libros donde no se tarda mucho en leer y justamente por eso mismo es lo que permite que podamos darnos esos pequeños énfasis en las poesías o escritos que más logren llamar nuestra atención y así mismo, una de las cosas que me sorprende es el énfasis que esta colección está haciendo en lo que es la poesía y la transmisión de emociones en sus entregas, ya que en esta primera etapa están muy presentes autores dedicados a esta área y en diversos tonos, lo cual personalmente me es llamativo por la variedad y el no encasillamiento en la colección, ya que permite explorar muchos diversos ángulos de la lectura.
