Background
Life styles are different in different geographical territories. It implies that when one changes a territory to another, one has to be open to adapt to the new setting inorder to fit in perfectly to the new society.
Moving into Europe, I have learnt that life is not limited to one's immediate environment. Infact, the world is so large that no one has and can exhaust its riches in culture and values.
Talking about Europe, I have heard a lot about Europe and had wanted to experience the life here no matter the country in Europe, I just wanted to get myself within the confines of Europ and be able to tell the reality myself.
I am happy to have moved to Italy and witnessed and still witnessing the life style of the Italians.
My Experience of Italy
My experience is with mixed feelings, therefore both good and bad. Of course life is not a bed of roses and moving into a new society one does not expect everything to move as smooth as oil just like the Italians say, Tutto liscio come l'olio.
The Italian Languge: the language of the angels
My first and greatest challenge was and is the language. First of all, I would say that I was in love with the language even right before moving in here. As its usually said, it's the language of the angels.
I love the way the language sounds. It's musical, it has rhythm such that it sounds sweet in the hearing.
But the problem lies with learning it. Its pattern is completely different from English. The attention to gender is something to be taken into cognisance whenever one speaks.
The verbs are conjugated differently following a pattern and so on. The Italians are actually very lovely and friendly in teaching strangers the language and so they have helped me a lot to surmount this problem which I am still battling with.
The Italian Foods
The Italians have the best food culture in the world in my own opinion. They have a system of eating that is so interesting.
At feasts, the meals are more complete such that a meal can last for more than six hours of eating non stop.
At first, I was scandalised when I was served a very cold rice when I newly arrived. It was strange to me and when I requested that it be warmed, it sounded strange to them too haha. This is a real example of a culture shock.
Well, now I am very much in love with their food system and I crave for their foods.
The life style
The life style here is totally different from that which I experienced in Nigeria. First of all, the persons here are more educated, people are respected so much such that no one obligated anyone to do anything.
Individuals are allowed to exercise their liberty to the full. Children are not compelled to do anything but convinced to do so and they grow with that mentality learning to respect the opinion of everyone.
This is something so admirable of their culture which I would be so glad that it is implemented in Nigeria.
More also, the social life is taken so serious such that every evening, you see people at different social centres taking a walk, eating together and having fun.
They are able to distinguish between time for work and time for relaxation and this offers them that seren life which is necessary.
I have enjoyed myself with friends, going out to eat and take gelato that is Ice-cream and going to bars to take a drink or coffee.
My Commendation
I am.grategul to God for the opportunity of experiencing this life here that has offered me a lot of knowledge about life and how to live better.
I commend the Italian society for a well structured life. A well organized relation with people. Here the majority of the Youths have a defined male or female friend known to the family. Such that the youths don't just go out with anyone but with that one person that is trusted and loved.
For me this is an ideal lifestyle as it helps to guard the heart of the two parties and also make them more responsible persons and prepare them for the matrimony for those who would eventually get married.
I hope to keep learning as I immense myself finto the traditions of the land.
Thanks for Reading.
