Dragon Age: Origins Playthrough - EP 3

Lothering had a few things I had completely forgotten about.

Here's Sten

I completely forgot the Qunari were once basically Humans.

From speaking with Sten, it is clear that the Qunari have their own culture, and are essentially treated as different to general Humans, even though they more or less look the same.

However, in Dragon Age 2, the Qunari were retconned and were shown to be distinct, and the new design has remained even up to the more recent game.

He offers comedic lines for anyone who enjoys a dry sense of humour, and he also acts as a great tank in combat.

These two are funny

I forgot about these characters, and I was delighted when I saw them.

They were being attacked, but luckily, we were there in time to save them. Then, they end up at our camp following us around for the rest of the game, acting as a merchant/ enchanter.

Here is the camp

I remember I always loved heading back to the camp in between missions/ entering new areas, which was always a nice change of pace, and gave me a chance to go around catching up/ talking to all of my companions, especially the ones I don't bring out too often.

I did come across a glitch where I tried to leave, but was stuck. Essentially, when I walked to the exit, I was asked to choose my party, and when I accepted, we were transported back to the camp.

The only way to fix it was by shutting down the game and restarting it.

To Redcliffe

As we were walking into this village, Alister took me to one side and told me that he is actually an heir to the throne.

I forgot about this plotline, and even though it's a bit of a cliché, it's not too bad.

The dead rise

Redcliffe is a cool questline, revolving around the dead coming out of the castle and terrorizing the village.

So, we all have to race around and rally the troops before the sun sets. It was a lot of fun, and I managed to recruit everyone for the battle, which gave us the best results we could get... I assume? Nobody really commented on it, but then again, I'm not sure what would have happened had I only done the bare minimum.

My favourite scene

This scene is absolutely hilarious and always was to me when I initially played it.

The kid has been possessed by a demon and is all-powerful, so everyone is terrified and is doing their best to entertain him and keep him happy.

I don't know if it's the voice acting or the animations in general, but the whole scene is so funny.

Broken Circle

Once we got to the end of the Redcliffe questline, we had to choose between killing the kid or killing the mother in order to get rid of the demon and save the village.

I couldn't decide, so I went to Google and found out that there is a better ending if we leave and finish the mage's questline, so that's what I did.

For this playthrough, I don't want to use my phone to complete it, but the choice was fairly difficult to make, and I wanted to know if there was a better way of ending it.

Sort:

Blimey, I played this in 2010 when released. I had just abandoned the X360 due to too many red rings of death and moved to the PS3. It looks so dated now, but I have good memories of it.

It's dated, but the story and writing is still top-notch. Recently, I have been going back to the older titles on the PS2 and 360, and I think many of the games from those eras are far better than many of the newer titles coming out. Especially the 360, from 2006-2013, that was definitely the golden age of gaming.

I struggle top keep interested now, I don't know why.., older?

It's super replayable still I think, but yeah - it suffers from the same dated feel as the original Fable does. I remember really liking the cartoony characters in that and now it just looks... well, I guess, typical for the era it was made in lol.

I won't hear such blasphemy. Fable 1 is top-notch, even today. I went back and replayed the lost chapters recently, and it still holds up; sure, it's a bit dated, but that just adds to the charm. I have played the anniversary remake for the 360 (I think), and it actually does a pretty good job of updating it.

I miss Peter Molyneux giving his interviews about the upcoming titles, and absolutely lying. You could almost hear the devs panicking every time he opened his mouth

Oh it's definitely still very replayable. My boy and I played through a good chunk of the original one a year or so ago and had a blast!
