Good evening everyone!
In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Torre De Marfil from the legendary argentine artist Gustavo Cerati.
Down By The River: Borislav Slavov
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Down By The River from the artist Borislav Slavov.
A year and a half ago, I was quite excited because I was going to have the opportunity to buy a console that I had wanted for a long time but couldn't afford at the time: the PlayStation 5. Luckily, I had a cousin who was able to bring it to me from the United States, and I got it at a much cheaper price.
The problem is that in Argentina, all these types of devices usually have a tax that almost doubles the original price in dollars, although lately they have been going down a bit. In fact, it is very common for people to cross over to Chile to buy components, computers, consoles, televisions, and many other things to save a lot of money.
After being able to use my PlayStation 5 for the first time, now I had to find something to play. At first, I didn't have much variety except to play a title I had already played on the previous console in order to platinum it. I was waiting for February of this year for the release of one of the games I had been most looking forward to: Kingdom Come Deliverance II. At that time, I had heard great things about a game that had even won GOTY that year: Baldurs Gate III. So I spent a good amount of money and ended up buying it at almost the launch price without ever having played a game of that style.
I ended up loving the game, and it became one of my all-time favorites. I can highlight many things about the game, such as the depth of the characters, its good story, its entertaining gameplay, and mainly because it has a very beautiful soundtrack.
If I had to pick one song above all others, it would be Down By The River by Borislav Slavov. It appears in several scenes in the game and draws you even further into its universe. The female vocals in the song are truly beautiful, and the instrumental accompaniment is perfect.
Borislav Slavov is a Bulgarian composer who specializes in creating music for various video games. He was primarily responsible for all the songs featured in the GOTY-winning video game Baldurs Gate III. His work on this installment earned him an award for best music at the 2024 BAFTA Games Awards.
Down By The River is the title track from the game's soundtrack album. In fact, it is their most-played song of the album on Spotify, with around 16 million plays.
