In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Time After Time from the iconic artist Cyndi Lauper.
Hit It: American Authors.
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Hit It from the band American Authors.
About two weeks ago, I got curious and started looking for new music on Spotify. There's a game that always makes me nostalgic when I listen to the songs that were on its menu, which occasionally had some great tracks, especially in older editions. The music in the latest editions featured some of the hits of the moment, which really overused autotune and lacked notable musical creativity.
In case anyone is confused, the video game series I'm talking about is FIFA by Electronic Arts. Since my teenage years, I used to be quite addicted to games such as Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Pro Clubs. So I spent a lot of time on the menu screen, which meant I ended up listening to all the songs in each installment.
I think one of the few things I really value about Electronic Arts' work is their support for lesser-known artists, helping them spread their music simply by including it in their games. Thanks to this, I've been able to hear great songs like Love Me Again by John Newman, Genius by LSD, On Top Of The World by Imagine Dragons, Way Down We Go by KALEO, Song 2 by Blur, Purple Light by Elliphant, and many more for the first time.
One of the first games I played on my PlayStation 3 features one of my favorite songs, which I have chosen as my pick for today: Hit It by American Authors.
American Authors is an American band founded in 2006 under their former name, “The Blue Pages.” The band consists of guitarist and vocalist Zac Barnett, bassist Dave Rublin, drummer Matt Sanchez, and guitarist James Shelley.
During their time as The Blue Pages, they released a few songs that went unnoticed, as they failed to make much of an impact on the music industry. Everything changed when the band changed its name to American Authors and released the album Oh, What a Life in 2014. This included the group's first hits: Believer, Best Day Of My Life, and Hit It. The latter song also gained considerable visibility as it was included on the FIFA 14 soundtrack.
