In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is I ran (so far away) from the group A Flock of Seagulls
Housewife - Dr. Dre, Hitman, Kurupt
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Housewife from the legendary artist Dr. Dre, Hitman and Kurupt.
Today, I wanted to bring back the person who has become my all-time favorite hip-hop artist. Not only because of his great musical repertoire, but also because he was very important in the music industry and, without him, we would probably be deprived of great artists such as Eminem, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and many others that he has produced throughout his career.
My story with him begins when I first heard one of the most iconic songs of the genre. It is none other than his collaboration with Snoop Dogg on his song: Still Dr. Dre. It is a song that transcends genres because I doubt there is anyone who has not heard it at least once. But at the time, I thought the main song was by Snoop Dogg and had absolutely no idea who this Dr. Dre was.
About five years ago, I was pretty bored looking for something to watch on Netflix when I came across a documentary that caught my attention, titled Straight Outta Compton. That movie told the story of one of the most legendary groups in hip-hop history, none other than N.W.A (Niggas With Attitude).
The film captivated me from the start, because I learned that several artists I had already heard of, such as Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, had been part of a band before and had been a huge success. Beyond that, the story of the feud between the band members, influenced by their manager's actions, is very interesting.
After seeing that, I began exploring Dr. Dre's musical repertoire. I started with one of his most iconic albums and his first solo album: The Chronic. The truth is that I was completely fascinated by the album and its lyrics, where we can also see Snoop Dogg taking his first steps on the big Hip-Hop scene. I loved the album so much that I have a picture of it in my room.
The Chronic captivated me with more than ten songs, but now I had to listen to another of his best-known gems: 2001. I consider this album one of the best I've ever heard in my life, and I can assure you that every song on it is a work of art. It's no coincidence that this album has an instrumental-only version, and listening to it that way highlights the great work that the genius Dr. Dre did for this record.
I could highlight many songs from this album, such as The Watcher, Still D.R.E, The Message, Bang Bang, and Some L.A. Niggaz. The truth is that I have all the songs from this album in my Spotify favorites. I've already shared several of them on other occasions, but today I'm going to bring you another one that's really good: Housewife.
