Interpretación: Las Pastillas del Abuelo - My musical choice of the day and Rising Star Statistics

In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.

Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is Down By The River from the bulgary artist Borislav Slavov.

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Interpretación from the argentinian band Las Pastillas del Abuelo.

Today I wanted to bring you one of my favorite Argentine rock bands, which is still active. In an era where new genres abound and musical quality is scarce, they are, in my opinion, a true beacon alongside other groups such as Ciro y Los Persas. I'm talking about Las Pastillas del Abuelo.

During my early years, I was always strongly influenced by rock ‘n’ roll, both in Spanish and English. My mother was quite a fan of bands like The Police, Kiss, and Guns N' Roses, while on the local scene I used to listen to Seru Giran, Sui Generis, and Soda Stereo. At my young age, I enjoyed it every time this type of music was played at home, even though I didn't know exactly who it was at the time.

I think the key point where I ended up getting hooked on Argentine rock happened by chance with the launch of a phone platform called Spotify. Now it was quite easy to consume music and there was no need to watch YouTube videos, download it from there, or fill up with viruses in programs like Ares. At that stage, I got to know some local bands from the 2000s, mainly Attaque 77, Callejeros, and Los Piojos.

During my early teens, I used to visit my father quite often, usually once a week. He had another family, and I had to live with a stepbrother, with whom I luckily got along quite well. We always did things together and used to go out to play with his cousin, who was two or three years older than me. It was his cousin who first introduced me to one of the bands that would become my all-time favorites: Las Pastillas del Abuelo.

I can assure you of my fanaticism for this band just by showing you how many of their songs I have in my Spotify “likes.” Honestly, I have never loved so many songs by any other artist or band. For today's selection, I have chosen one of my favorite songs from their most recent albums: Interpretación.

Las Pastillas del Abuelo is one of Argentina's most renowned active rock bands. It is made up of vocalist Piti Fernandez, drummer Juan Comas, bassist Santiago Bogisich, guitarist Fernando Vecchio, and keyboardist Juan Ruggiero.

The group began performing in 2002 and released several successful albums, including Acústico, Crisis, Las Pastillas del Abuelo, Desafios, Por Colectora, and Desafios, which established them in the Argentine rock music scene. Despite not achieving the popularity of historic bands such as Soda Stereo or Serú Girán, Las Pastillas del Abuelo has managed to keep the legacy of Argentine rock alive, preserving its spirit and essence in times when the genre seemed to be fading.

Interpretación is part of the 2020 album, which was logically released in that same year. It features several hits such as Rocanrol n'n'n, Azucar Impalpable, El Favor (my favorite), Incontinencia Verbal, and my choice for today. It has five million plays on Spotify, while on YouTube it has garnered almost a million views. Although it is not the most successful song on the album, I cannot deny that it has beautiful lyrics and instrumentation.
