Hello, everyone! Today I will be continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me keep track of the songs I have used so I dont end up repeating them. The last song I talked about in my last post is: Saint Barbara Theme from the artist Jan Valta.
Light Speed: Dr. Dre & Hitman
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Light Speed from the legendary Dr. Dre and the artist Hitman.
For quite some time now, hip hop has become one of the genres I listen to most. But the truth is that my history with this type of music didn't start directly, but rather thanks to a movie I ended up seeing almost by chance a few years ago. I'm talking about Straight Outta Compton, a kind of documentary film that tells the story of one of the most important groups in the history of rap: N.W.A.
The group was made up of several very important artists within the genre, but mainly Eazy-E, Ice Cube, and Dr. Dre. Before seeing that movie, I already knew a few rap songs thanks to video games like Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, where many radio stations included hip hop and rap from the 90s. But the truth is that I had never really stopped to research the artists behind those songs.
After seeing the movie, that changed quite a bit. I became curious and started looking for more music related to that group and the rap scene of that era. That led me to discover several artists who ended up becoming some of my favorites within the genre. Among them were names like Nas, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Rakim, Outkast, and Wu Tang Clan.
Recently, I was reviewing Dr. Dre's repertoire and came across a song that I hadn't included on my favorite album: 2001. It's a collaboration with the artist Hitman titled Light Speed.
Dr. Dre is an American producer and rapper who became one of the most important figures in the history of hip hop. He began his career in the group N.W.A alongside artists such as Eazy E, Ice Cube, Mc Ren, and DJ Yella. The group was a huge success in the United States, so it didn't take long for him to make a name for himself in the industry.
After the group disbanded, he began his solo career and released several highly successful albums. Among them are The Chronic and 2001, which included big hits that ended up making him one of the most important artists in the industry. The song I have chosen for today is part of the album 2001, and despite being one of the least listened to, it is still a great song.
