The government were meant to be a help to the citizens. Or should I say "a help"? They are saddled with the responsibility of using the resources at their disposals to better the life of the citizenry. But sadly, that is not the case these days. We are ruled by such minds that embezzle our public funds and use it for their personal purposes. They do not consider what is the best for the people which they lead. They only mindful of the things that appeals to their pockets. They government officials are such set of people that will relocate to other places with the resources from their community if the environment there is not conducive for them. Such are the kind of people in the helms of affairs.
In our community, we have this situation where the erosion had eaten our roads and we are not having it easy living in the environment. The gully erosion has eaten up the lands and even some people housing and landed properties are endangered. You can see it in the video I have posted. We have a church situated in that area and there are many people living there. When there is a heavy rainfall, even children will not be able to get to school. Everything in the community stands still because everywhere will be flooded with water.
We have government overseeing this place. In fact there could be upto four or five tiers of authority who should take responsibility over fixing this menace. But no one is doing anything.
We have the local government officials, there is the hose of assembly member representing that community in the state house of assembly. There is the federal representative representing that community in the national assembly. There is a senator over that community. Then we have the governor and the president himself. With all these people which I've listed, no one ever think of salvaging this community from this erosion. Now this is just one out of thousands of such environmental problems in our country. So, I think that yhe government should do more.
