Últimamente he escuchado repetidamente esta pregunta a raíz de lo sucedido en Venezuela. Y creo que es una pregunta legítima.
Pero no he escuchado (ni leído) a nadie preguntarse:
¿Dónde estábamos nosotros cuando El nos llamó?
Entre los miles de comentarios que hierven en las redes sociales, me conseguí con un hilo donde había una sección en la que se decía más o menos algo como ésto (parafraseando):
Comentario 1: "Dios está mostrando su ira a causa de la idolatría"
Comentario 2: "Ahorita no es momento de hablar sobre religión ni de buscar causas o responsabilidades. Ahorita es momento de tener empatía y de hacer algo"
Comentario 3: "¿Y cuando es el momento? Porque antes del terremoto se les habló y tampoco escucharon ¿y entonces?
Este tipo de conversaciones deja en evidencia dos asuntos bastante serios y por lo general —como de costumbre— ignorados:
La verdadera causa de las desgracias y tragedias —que no tiene nada que ver con Dios—.
La responsabilidad individual frente a las desgracias y tragedias.
No hablo de fanatismo religioso. De hecho NO ES EL PROPÓSITO de este post. Hablo de realidades que cuanto más se ignoran, más dolorosas resultan cuando sus consecuencias nos estallan en la cara.
Conviene preguntarse a qué advertencias como humanidad les hemos quitado atención.
Es increíble la cantidad de personas que se acuerdan de Dios únicamente cuando ocurre una tragedia como ésta.
Me pregunto:
¿Qué tiene que ver Dios en todo esto?
y
¿Qué está haciendo Dios al respecto?
LA VERDADERA CAUSA DE LAS DESGRACIAS Y TRAGEDIAS
Empezaré con la primera lógica sencilla y elemental que ubica en su lugar el argumento.
¿Tienes una Biblia a la mano?
Sí, una Biblia.
No escribo sobre religión; escribo sobre respuestas y razonamientos
Busque 1 Juan 5:19
Una traducción tradicional (RVR1960) lo vierte así:
Vuelva a leerlo.
Y preste atención al primer indicio:
"...el mundo entero está bajo el maligno."
Probablemente alguien diga: "¿y qué tiene que ver con los terremotos? Eso se refiere a opresión espiritual"
Pero la verdad es que esa declaración abarca mucho mas que solamente opresión espiritual.
Implica un hecho mucho más aterrador y arroja luces sobre la razón de éstos llamados "fenómenos naturales", que sí son fenómenos, pero lo de naturales, solo es un disfraz.
Ahora busque en su Biblia, Apocalipsis 12:12
(RVR1960)
Preste mucha atención a la declaración final:
"... el diablo ha descendido... con gran ira —o furia—, sabiendo que tiene poco tiempo".
Vuelva a su Biblia y ahora diríjase a Lucas 21:10, 11
Una traducción en lenguaje contemporáneo (TNM2019) lo vierte así:
¿Casualidad? No creo.
Observe la relación entre ambos pasajes:
Primero:
"El diablo desciende con furia... a la tierra... porque tiene poco tiempo"
Segundo:
Esa furia se demuestra en hechos concretos: "guerras... grandes terremotos... en un lugar tras otro... hambres y epidemias".
No se necesita ser un genio.
Pero... poco tiempo
¿Para qué?
Busque en su Biblia, Lucas 21:31

El verdadero causante de las tragedias está furioso porque sabe que se agota su tiempo para seguir gobernando este mundo. Sí, gobernando este mundo.
Ha sido el diablo el único responsable de cada desastre, tragedia, mortandad, destruccion y ruina que ha caído sobre los seres humanos, porque es lo único que realmente sabe hacer: MATAR.
Y hacerlo a lo grande.
Ha sido el único responsable de que la humanidad se dirija al colapso; que todo parezca que no hay remedio ni solución; responsable de que los ambiciosos y codiciosos prosperen y que las grandes mayorías nunca tengan sus necesidades cubiertas.
Responsable de atrofiar la cultura y el pensamiento de las sociedades para que los malos sean más malos y se multipliquen por doquier. Responsable de que los gobiernos humanos nunca puedan resolver la injusticia, la pobreza y la corrupción.
¿Evidencia?
Pues busque y lea Lucas 4:6

En este punto del relato de la tentación de Jesús, el Diablo le hace al Hijo de Dios una oferta muy tentadora: le mostró los gobiernos del mundo conocido y se los ofreció.
Ahora, pregúntese:
¿Podría el diablo ofrecerle al Hijo de Dios algo que no fuese suyo (autoridad sobre los gobiernos del mundo)?
¿Por qué cree usted que por más esfuerzo que los gobiernos hagan y por mejores intenciones que tengan nunca logran eliminar de raíz los problemas?
¿Por qué cree usted que siempre que un nuevo político llega al poder, termina olvidándose de todas las promesas que hizo?
¿Por qué cree usted que los "buenos" gobiernos duran muchísimo menos que los más perversos, dictatoriales, criminales y corruptos?
La buena noticia es que a este único responsable le queda poco tiempo. Sí, poco tiempo.
Tal vez, en lugar de: ¿Dónde está Dios?, convenga preguntarse:
¿Dónde estamos nosotros cuando Dios nos habla?
Y, ¿qué estamos haciendo al respecto?
¿Qué consuelo hay para los familiares de los miles de inocentes fallecidos en manos del único malvado asesino responsable de sus muertes?

LA RESPONSABILIDAD INDIVIDUAL
Lately, I’ve heard this question time and again in the wake of what’s happened in Venezuela. And I think it’s a legitimate question.
But I haven’t heard (or read) anyone asking:
Where were we when He called us?
Among the thousands of comments swirling around on social media, I came across a thread with a section that said something along these lines (to paraphrase):
Comment 1: “God is showing His wrath because of idolatry”
Comment 2: “Now is not the time to talk about religion or to look for causes or assign blame. Now is the time to show empathy and to do something”
Comment 3: “And when is the right time? Because they were warned before the earthquake and they didn’t listen then either – so what then?”
This sort of conversation highlights two rather serious issues that are generally —as usual— ignored:
The true cause of misfortunes and tragedies —which has nothing to do with God—.
Individual responsibility in the face of misfortunes and tragedies.
I’m not talking about religious fanaticism. In fact, that is NOT THE PURPOSE of this post. I’m talking about realities which, the more they are ignored, the more painful they become when their consequences blow up in our faces.
It’s worth asking ourselves which warnings, as a humanity, we have turned a blind eye to.
It’s incredible how many people only remember God when a tragedy like this occurs.
I wonder:
What does God have to do with all this?
and
What is God doing about it?
THE TRUE CAUSE OF MISFORTUNES AND TRAGEDIES
I shall begin with the first simple and basic line of reasoning that puts the argument into perspective.
Do you have a Bible to hand?
Yes, a Bible.
I am not writing about religion; I am writing about answers and reasoning
Look up 1 John 5:19
A traditional translation (RVR1960) renders it as follows:
Read it again.
And pay attention to the first clue:
"...the whole world lies under the power of the evil one."
Someone might say: "What does that have to do with earthquakes? That refers to spiritual oppression"
But the truth is that this statement encompasses much more than just spiritual oppression.
It implies a far more terrifying reality and sheds light on the reason behind these so-called “natural phenomena”, which are indeed phenomena, but the ‘natural’ part is merely a disguise.
Now look up Revelation 12:12 in your Bible

Pay close attention to the final statement:
‘…the devil has come down… in great wrath—or fury—knowing that his time is short.’
Go back to your Bible and now turn to Luke 21:10, 11
A translation in contemporary language (TNM2019) renders it as follows:
Coincidence? I don’t think so.
Note the connection between the two passages:
First:
“The devil descends in fury… to the earth… because he has little time left”
Second:
That fury is demonstrated in concrete events: “wars… great earthquakes… in one place after another… famines and epidemics”.
You don’t need to be a genius.
But... a short time
What for?

The true cause of these tragedies is furious because he knows his time to continue ruling this world is running out. Yes, ruling this world.

It is responsible for stunting the culture and thinking of societies so that the wicked become even more wicked and multiply everywhere. It is responsible for the fact that human governments can never resolve injustice, poverty and corruption.

At this point in the account of Jesus’ temptation, the Devil makes the Son of God a very tempting offer: he showed him the kingdoms of the known world and offered them to him.
Now, ask yourself:
Could the Devil offer the Son of God something that was not his (authority over the kingdoms of the world)?
Why do you think that, no matter how hard governments try and however good their intentions may be, they never manage to eliminate problems at their root?
Why do you think that whenever a new politician comes to power, they end up forgetting all the promises they made?
Why do you think that ‘good’ governments last far less time than the most wicked, dictatorial, criminal and corrupt ones?
The good news is that this sole culprit has little time left. Yes, very little time.
Perhaps, instead of asking: ‘Where is God?’, we should ask ourselves:
‘Where are we when God speaks to us?’
And what are we doing about it?
What comfort is there for the families of the thousands of innocent people who have died at the hands of the one evil murderer responsible for their deaths?
