It looked a bit like somebody set fire to a stolen car and the bush went up as well.
The realality is the car was abandoned years ago, has been rusting away fast, and the council has been doing some controlled burn offs on part of the bush that backs onto housing. The bush and scrub must have been pretty high before the burn because I do not recall seeing that wreck before.

Wow that's crazy... and the car (or what's left of it anyway) makes your photos almost a bit spooky! We also do controlled burns here because fire season is really dramatic and horrible. With the gale force summer winds and highly flammable indigenous fynbos, it's a recipe for disaster. We often have evacuations all over the peninsula, depending on where the fire is. Some times the fire spreads and there are multiple burn areas. These are obviously not controlled burns and are actually seriously scary. Every year we see our mountain on fire in one or many spots.

In my country (Czech Republic), metal waste is bought in collection centres. So nothing metal is lying around in nature for a long time. Someone sooner or later loads the metal and takes it to a collection centre.
We can cash metal in too but it is a low return compared to the cost of living out here. There is a couple of wrecks in the bush but I would have to walk all the metal out of the reserve.
