Do You Consider Yourself Fit/Healthy?
Once again, greetings to you all dear hivians and hivers in the Indiaunited Community here on the Hive Blockchain. The pleasure is always mine each time I have the opportunity to be among you in this great community and also having the opportunity to contribute my quota to the contest topic on hand. I missed the last contest and almost missing this round as well, but luckily here I am in the contest.
The theme of the contest is: Do You Consider Yourself Fit/Healthy?.
Maybe I might put it this way: Do I Consider Myself Fit/Healthy?
By personalizing the theme of the contest, it will help me to better understand the topic and re-evaluate the activities I engaged in with relation to fitness and healthy life.
There is a common saying that "health is wealth" and that "a healthy person is a wealthy person", and by extension it means a healthy nation is a wealthy nation. Going by that understanding therefore, it means that health needs to be given much priority by all starting from home, community, state and the nation at large.
But come to think of it, what are the areas to address fitness/health? To get it all, health issues cut across personal hygiene, exercise, and mental fitness to mention a few.
Only a healthy individual can engage in different activities
Personal Hygiene
Often time, the practice of personal hygiene are given less attention but it turns out to be the simple and most effective form of healthy living. Simple remedies such as washing our hands frequently with soap or ashes and water, especially before preparing or touching food and food items or after using the toilet. Properly and regularly cleanse and disinfect our home with soaps and disinfectant, particularly surfaces of tables, kitchen floors, toilet and other objects that are touched frequently, is another important point to note. And lastly but not the least if possible avoid having close contact with people who have an infectious diseases or places where such ones are, though not trying to create any stigma to such ones.
Exercise
Sorry to quote from the Holy Book, it says in Ecclesiastes 4:6 that "Better is a handful of rest than two handfuls of hard work and chasing after the wind.” What that means is that to have a fit/healthy life, we have to balance work with sufficient rest. So adequately exercising need to be followed, which means we have to stay physically active such as taking regular walks, running or simple body movements. One thing is sure, physical activity of such can improve our health even if we are older or disabled.
Getting proper rest is very critical in this aspect because insufficient sleep can increase stress and reduce a person's concentration. And if not check on time it can lead to serious health problems thereby contributing negatively to our fitness and healthy life.
Aside from avoiding heavy meals during dinner we also need to set a realistic time to go to bed as well as when to get out of bed. Besides that, eat good food to complement the rest. Following up on those simple steps can have a great positive impact on my fitness and health.
Mental Fitness
Mental fitness is crucial because it maintain the central position in coordinating other factors. As a matter of fact, much of it centers on the information that we absorb into our minds and hearts from our immediate environment, books, magazines, television shows, song lyrics, videos, video games, social media, the Internet, and other areas too numerous to mention can affect our thinking and our personality positively or negatively. As much as there are much to say here, we need to be cautious to avoid contaminating our minds with poisonous thoughs that will jeopardize our fitness and healthy life style.
From the above point raised which off course not exhaustive, fitness and health should not be toyed with looking at it's resultant effects both to the individual, the community and the nation at large.
I believe that this contest have come at the right time, not only to win the contest but to save lifes.
