SteemMonsters (Splinterlands): Collect and trade cards on the blockchain! Level them up and then compete in individual and Guild PvP Tournaments and EPIC BOSS FIGHTS! The funding period for this kickstarter started on September 4th, 2018 and ended on October 2nd, 2018.
For some of us it seems as if it was just yesterday in which we were putting our funds together to take a shot at an upcoming new game named SteemMonsters (Now known as Splinterlands). The game grew its funding using private deals and KickStarter. While I don't have the numbers for the private deals I can dig up the KickStarter information. As seen in the screenshot above the KickStarter garnered 274 backers and between them pledged a little over $88,000 USD. An amazing accomplishment at the time. The KickStarter offered many goodies to those who pledged. The higher the pledge the greater the rewards. Alpha Booster Packs, Starter Pack (Now Known As The Spellbook) and exclusive cards that could only be attained by participating in the KickStarter were all on offer. At this time booster packs cost just $2 each and if one participated in the KickStarter, less than that. Pledge packages started at $25 USD and continued to climb all the way up to $10,000 USD. The most popular Pledge Level was the $50 Pledge and we will go over that in a minute. The highest Pledge level possible ($10,000 USD) didn't have any takers but the $5,000 level did have one Backer. The Exclusive KickStarter Cards
Dragon Whelpling Runt (Common), Neb-Seni (Rare), Royal Dragon Archer (Epic) and Shin Lo Dragon (Legendary) were the exclusive cards offered in the original KickStarter. They were included in different combinations and variants depending on what pledge level one participated in. Each card could also be purchased as add-ons for anyone who wanted more than their pledge level offered.

On top of all these great deals we also had a thing called Stretch Goals which allowed participants to earn even more goodies on top of what our pledge level offered. For example at the $75,000 USD Pledge level everyone who participated in the $200 (or higher) pledge package would receive an extra 50 Beta Boosters. As we went over the Kickstarter generated over $88,000 so there were allot of happy participants who received an additional 50 Beta Booster Packs. At the time that was a $100 Value. That is a USD worth half the price of the $200 Pledge needed (The Value Given In This KickStarter To All Its Participants Is Insane). The game has progressed into a juggernaut of Play2Earn gaming and is the game leading the way on the HIVE Blockchain. Many have tried to replicate the success of Splinterlands but none seem to be able to capture it thus far. With upcoming games such as PSYBERX and multi-chain games like Crypto-Shots its only a matter of time before the HIVE Blockchain becomes the place to be for blockchain game creation.

Splinterlands is a blockchain game built on the Hive Network. The game itself utilizes NFT's for game play. These NFT's can be won in battle and/or purchased from the official Splinterlands marketplace or many other secondary markets. Game play rewards players with cryptocurrency and in game assets. I know I have it recorded somewhere in one of my posts and one day I might be able to find that post but today is not that day. However if my memory serves me correctly there were additional pledges made outside of the Kickstarter itself. Again this is just going by memory so I could be wrong but if we included those pledges the total raised was over $100,000 USD. The today's value of what is offered in this Kickstarter is insane to think about. One can easily look at all these Pledge Deals and wonder why we didn't purchase more. Truth be told back when this KickStarter took place it was much riskier to invest in Splinterlands than it is today. Those who took the leap of faith were rewarded for doing so.
