Greetings!
Amina is a friend and confidant of mine and everybody around us knows us to be the best of friends. In fact, if you are looking for Amina and you find me, just know that you've seen her as seeing me would amount to you seeing Amina.
So, the kind of friendship between Amina and I is a kind that is full of love, but this time around, not official love as I have approached her to profess my love interest to her.
Although, it's not as if I didn't really like to profess my love to Amina, but how would I do such to a friend of mine who we have been together for almost a decade? Also, how would I approach her and tell her that I love her with my timid nature?
All these and many more questions needed to be answered before I could proceed to profess my love to this beautiful damsel, Amina.
There was a day that I went up to a friend of mine, Ola and told him about my feelings for Amina. I told him and said,
“Ola, see that girl called Amina, I think I'm in love with her.” “the same Amina you are friends with?” he asked. “Yes, Amina Toriola,” I replied. “Are you sure you are truly interested in her?” He asked again. “Yes, Ola, I'm truly interested in her and I don't really know how to go about it,” I replied. “Are you sure the girl is going to agree and accept your love for her?” He asked. “I don't know and that's why I have come to you,” I said. “Hmm, you know what, the girl has friend zone you and it will be kind of difficult for you to woo her successfully,” he said. “Is there a way you can help me out?” I asked. “Yes, there should always be a way, but I can just guarantee you if she would accept,” he said. “ What way is that?” I asked. “the only way I have here is that I will go to her and deliver your message to her,” he said. “ If that's the only way, you can go ahead, I don't mind,” I replied.
After I said this, my friend, Ola, went to meet Amina on my behalf and told her everything I had told him about her.
When Ola came back, he reported all that Amina had told him and that my friend, Amina had told him that she was disappointed in me. He said that she told him that I should come to her in person to tell her to face my love for her.
Immediately Ola told me this, sweat began to roll down my body as I was not so confident of meeting with Amina in person and this is because I have not done so before and aside that, I was just wondering what her answer would be and this is because I wouldn't want the answer to be a NO answer from her.
However, when Ola, my friend, realized that I was afraid of meeting Amina, he encouraged me and that's why I love to always be with him. He, Ola is a kind of person that will encourage you to take bold steps.
So, Ola encouraged me and backed me up to go and meet Amina. It's a difficult decision for me to make as it wasn't that easy for me to go to her, but I summoned courage and went to her.
On getting to Amina, she pretended as if she had never heard anything or saw the person I sent to her and this really proved so hard for me to start my conversation with her on the issue as instead of us discussing the issue at hand, it's another issue on our friendship that we were discussing.
Although, I knew she knows my purpose of coming to her just that she was pretending. When we had started the normal discussion and in the middle of the discussion, I told her that I have something to tell her, at first she was reluctant to hear me out, but later, she gave in and asked me to speak on, it's then I express my love to her and in response, she started by telling me that she was disappointed in me. She asked,
“Sam, why didn't you come to me in person instead of you sending a friend of yours to me?” “There's nothing too much,” o said, “are you sure?” She asked. “Yes, I'm sure, just that I'm afraid of you.” I replied. “Why are you afraid of me?” She asked. “Aren't we friends?” She continued.
“I know, but…”
Well, back to the message you sent your messanger to deliver to me and also with what you have just said about you loving me, my response is a capital NO.
She said,
“Sam, we can only be best of friends and nothing else, you are my best friend and I'm also your best friend and it will be good for both of us to maintain that status.”
When I heard what she had said, I felt weak from the inside and it's like the world was coming to an end. I left her side and went to meet Ola who had asked me to go to her and it's Ola that consoled me and encouraged me to move on as there's more to life, although it's so difficult for me to move on ab initio, but I later overcame the situation and at the end met with another beautiful lady who I'm now married to and as for Amina too, she's also enjoying her relationship with her husband and till today, we are still best of friends.
