Human character and its shaping factors

in Hive Learners22 days ago

Greetings!

One thing about humans is that not all humans are the same. The fact that we are all created in the image of God doesn't mean we are the same. Though, we are all created in the image of God but even at that, we all have our individual differences which make us all imperfect beings.

Like I said above, no one is perfect and this makes us have our good and our bad sides, we also have our strengths and weaknesses. All these are what makes us what we are, humans.

Therefore, going by the topic of the prompt before us today, I would say human traits are different and can only be developed as we grow. Like it's being said in the topic, I have also seen bad parents having good children and vice versa.

But at the same time the character of parents takes a larger part of what trait a child would possess as the parents serve as the role model of their children. Though there are some exceptions to this and like I have said earlier, there's some children that developed good characters through which society they belong to. It might be the religious institutions that built some children's good character which was not given to them at home by their parents.

Furthermore, the society as we have now can also influence and manipulate the good character of a child, if the parents are good, the child or children might be bad as a result of the bad influence of the society on them. So, these and many more factors are the way good and bad characters are being built in a child.

For me as a person, I only believe people can be born with good character alone and this is because of what the bible says. The Holy bible says, “Everything God created is good.” So, if that should be the case, everybody born of a woman were born with good characters, and I strongly believe no one is born with a bad character. Humans only developed that bad trait as they were growing up and being influence by what characters their parent possessed and what society they find themselves.

Just yesterday, while I was having a discussion with my darling wife, I told her that I would not want to have my babies grown up in our current neighborhood and this is because of the bad characters of those living in and around the neighborhood.

These people have bad traits. They fight and curse themselves almost everyday. They use foul language on their children and they commit a whole lots of atrocities. Now, imagine a child with good trait and manner growing on in such an environment, how do you expect him to maintain the good trait, I believe it will only take the grace of God for such a child to do so.

Also, I have seen in my church a boy that came from a bad home where the parents are always fighting each other. This boy, Paul when he came to the church was all alone as he came without his parents. Though, he too was bad in some aspect as he used to fight all his peers, but later as he continued coming to church, he began to change from bad to good. Though, he is still in the process, but I believe he would change.

In the same vein, good and bad characters or traits can also be developed through one's intention effort. I have seen a friend of mine who by an act of intention decided to stop sleeping with opposite sex around. Though, it's tough for him to go by his decision at the initial stage, but with time he got over it and his intention of turning a new leave worked for him at the end.

So, as for me, when it comes to human traits most especially when it comes to good and bad characters, it's in most cases developed while growing up through the influence of the parents and the society we found ourselves in. Also, I strongly believe that it's only with good trait or character one can be born with as said by God in the Holy scripture that all he created are good. But bad characters are to be learnt consciously or unconsciously as we continue with our existence in life.

the society and parents have a big role to play in determining our character but choice also has a role to play because I have seen people who came from bad homes and environments but they have good characters

Yeah, that's true. Thanks for stopping by.
