Friendship has been instrumental in my life so far. However, there's another side of friendship that has had a negative impact on me. But overall, I have really enjoyed the benefit of friendship.
In this discussion, I would like to share my experience about friendship. In fact, I would share the two sides of friendship that I have so far experienced.
Let me start with a bad side of friendship I'll never forget. It happened that while I was in school, I met with a guy called Ade. Ade was a good guy when I first met him. So because of his kindness, I decided to become and share everything with him.
In fact, he was my best friend and confidant and for this reason, we both decided to partner together in a business. So, we both started to contribute some certain amount of money together just to kickstart our piggery business.
We decided to invest in this piggery business because we were both from the same animal science department.
Once our contribution reached the target amount, we started the business by renting a pen and purchasing 3 sows and a boar and it did not take us time before the sows began to get pregnant. This was made possible by the boar.
So, within the stipulated period, the three sows gave birth to 6, 5 and 8 piglets respectively. When this happened, we were overjoyed and saw this as a promising start to our business. However, not all the piglets survived, but we still have a handful of them that survived. Out of 19 piglets, 14 survived and this was so impressive for a start to the business.
We then began to take care of the piglets together. Thank God we are both agricultural science students.
So, not long before that, I fell ill and I could not visit the farm, but I was always asking my friend how everything was going on in the pen and what he used to tell me was that, all is well with the farm. In fact he used to tell me to get well soon as that I can come back to the farm as the work is too much for him.
I was sick for 3 months, but I eventually recovered and after taking proper rest, I decided to visit the farm without telling him. This visit was meant to surprise him, but when I arrived at the farm, I found it empty with no pig in sight. When I called him to ask where he was, he hung up and blocked my number as soon as he realized I was at the farm.
Immediately I realized he had done me wrong. I went to his place but I was told he was no longer staying there. What's all this? I asked myself. Well, I will see him in school, that was what I'd thought to myself. That didn't happen as I was told he had not been coming to school as regularly as he supposed to be in school. That's when I realized I had been scammed. I considered reporting him to his parents but I didn't know any of them. I had no one to report him to, and that's how I lost all I had invested in the partnership and this made me get sick again.
But thanks to a childhood friend that came visiting when he was told that I was sick. He's the one who encouraged me to leave the guy to God and continue with my life.
This guy really tried for me as he encouraged both in kind and in cash. It's his cash gift that got me back to my feet and the money he gave me then is what I'm now using to run my building materials supply business and to be sincere with us, it's really multiply and I'm currently enjoying my life.
Since then, I have not set my eyes on the guy that scammed me, but this my childhood friend is always by my side and I would forever be indebted to him for his good and kind gesture.
In conclusion, there's two sides to friendship. If a friend betrayed you, another would lift and bring you back to life. So, don't give up on relationships as no one is an island in life.
