Yesterday, I was able to reach ten thousand steps. I mowed the small lawn in the backyard of our house. We don't have grass in front of our house as our front yard is too small.
I also did some weeding in our backyard as it got no attention in quite some time due to me focusing on the lake house that I was getting ready for the sale.
The images in this post are actually from today and my first trip to the office in Seattle in the last five years.
Today, we had a first in person day in Seattle after Covid. Yesterday, when I was looking at the routes from my town to Seattle , I discovered that my direct bus that I used to take is no longer in service.
Turns out since they launched the light rail from Lynnwood to Seattle, they canceled all commuting busses. They think everyone should drive to the light rail and board it. That is nice. My drive is changing from 1 mile to park and ride to a ten mile drive to the closest light rail station.
That would have been cool, except that the 3,000 parking spots around the station were completely full even before eight in the morning. And there are no paid parking lots in the area. My only option was to park illegally in the parking lot of a shopping center nearby.
The train itself was nice, and since I boarded at the first station, it was almost empty filling up as we took off up to the capacity.
The ride was fairly quick at around forty minutes. I ended up walking a lot of steps between walking to the train, off the train, and during the workout I did in the activity room in our office building.
It was nice to have a big variety of weight lifting
machines and a different type of a pull-up bar.
There were almost no people in the activity room compared to five years ago. And the building was almost empty besides our software engineers.
Not much work got done today. We all spent a day sitting in a big conference room listening to management discussing Return To Office, the mission statement of Software Engineering. Our CIO talked about security risks of clicking on links in emails and text messages.
My manager admitted that these in person events are not very productive and that when he goes to the office, he sets his Outlook calendar to out of office as he feels that during these in person meetings he is unable to respond to his emails or Microsoft Teams messages.
Oh well, I did bring my sandwich that my wife was so nice to park for me. Though I did end up picking up three Georgian boats from our favorite Georgian restaurant in Seattle.
We all love those, and we have not had those in a few months. So I guess the mission was accomplished for bringing us back into the office 😆
Was going to post my report for the last season in Splinterlands today, but I ran out of time. I guess that I will have to do it tomorrow.
