The ten thousand plus streak continues. Today was a busy day at work. During the lunch break, I was able to eat and get outside into the ninety degree weather and check on my tomatoes and gladiolus flowers.
The flowers are just starting to bloom, and only one earliest variety is in the initial stages of bloom. I have a couple more varieties in our front and back yard, and those are not blooming yet.
In this heat, plants need a lot of water, especially tomatoes, that started to really look like they needed watering.
I spent part of my lunch break watering tomatoes and gladiolus as well as other plants in our backyard to make sure that they are able to survive this heat wave.
Some of my tomatoes are starting to look pretty big. They are still green and probably have a few more weeks before I see the first red tomatoes 🍅
The biggest tomatoes are not surprisingly early girl, raspberry luana, and celebrity varieties. Pork chop variety is also looking pretty good.
I am really looking forward to harvesting these homegrown tomatoes as their flavor is highly superior to anything that I can buy in the store.
I like eating the simply cut or with a little bit of salt or in a salad that my wife makes. The salad is usually tomatoes, cucumbers, and optionally dill. She adds salt and unrefined sunflower oil from Ukraine.
We tried all kinds of sunflower oil from various places, but sunflower oil from Ukraine, regardless of the brand, just has a superior flavor.
Must be something about the climate or the meter deep black earth that they have over there.
After taking care of the plants, I worked the second part of my work day and headed to QFC supermarket to pick up some pastry for my mother in law and test out the new card she received and I registered for her.
The testing of the card was a success, and I picked up a couple of boxes of pastry for her, actually my father in law would be eating those. Then I headed over to her place to take care of a few things.
First item on the list was to take care of the air conditioners that had experienced some issues yesterday. I fixed them and made sure that they are both working and are on different breakers.
Then I restored her Russian TV that needed new Wi-Fi credentials entered after her son replaced the old router. Then I installed a new app on her phone so that she can check on her new card balance and transactions.
Then was time to replace a filter in her air filtration system, fix the door stop and replace tree outdated and not working light fixtures with the new LED lighting fixtures.
Again I went back to garage to figure out which breakers to turn off. It turned out one of the lighting fixtures was on a different breaker from the other two.
While I was driving back and forth to my parents in law I listened to Stever and David McCoy from Splinterlands. Apparently a lot of players are upset about the new dynamics with wagons and airdrops.
Hopefully Splinterlands implements an acceptable solution as we cannot loose any more players like Steve, who spent about eight thousand dollars on Rebellion set and then another seven thousand dollars on Conclave Arcana set.
All images in this post were made with my phone camera and some of them are from my recent trip to downtown Seattle.
