Today we had the smoke from Eastern Washington arrive in Seattle area. All of a sudden the sunlight has a different hue to it everything seems muted and different than usual.
The air also has a definite smoke smell to it, but different from the normal fire smoke that is in the vicinity. Over six hundred homes have been lost in these fires already and the fire is not contained yet.

They have arrested a thirty seven year old man on suspicion of starting the fires. Apparently at least one of these fires was not an accident.
Weird, it used to be that we never had smoke and poor air quality in Seattle are, and lately it has been every year at the end of summer. Sometimes it's fires in Oregon and sometimes Canada fires. It has been getting pretty bad, so far it is not as bad as it was last year. But they projected that it is going to get worse.

Right now it is already Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups air quality, but it is going to get into the red zone soon.
Today I was on elections support at eight in the evening. Everything went off without a problem. We reached one twenty fourth of our capacity at the peak traffic spike.

We are definitely going to have conversations about scaling down our Kubernetes cluster footprint and using smaller container pods.
There is no sense in running an environment that reaches about one percent of the capacity during normal daily usage. And I had to build an application to prove to our stakeholders that we don't need to scale up or content delivery environment from four content delivery servers to ten or more.

Tomorrow is back to the office in Seattle and I am doing a presentation on the Visual Studio Live conference, so I have put together a PowerPoint slide deck and emailed it to my boss today so that he can incorporate it into the all hands presentation deck for tomorrow.
Well, the good thing is that I will get to the gym and have a great workout tomorrow in addition to all the extra steps. Today I barely managed ten thousand steps with the help of a couple small walks with my wife around the house.

I'm guessing it is going to be pushing into our area eventually. Hopefully not until after we get home from camping this weekend.
I think our smoke is from Eastern Washington... you usually have smoke from Canada, right?
It usually just depends on the jet stream.
