“ Can you see me now?”😇
“How far are we going today honey?”😍
We were headed to the town of Fairhaven, at the Southern end of boulevard Park!😊
This very eclectic town, was founded by the Man sitting next to Liz……….
“Honey maybe you might want to put a little space between you and “Dirty Dan”!😳
They didn’t call him Dirty Dan Harris for no reason Lol!😮
They say he was a very shrewd businessman, and a bootlegger, and he also had an aversion to taking a bath!🙄😬
Dan Harris arrived in Bellingham in approximately 1853.
He acquired 43 acres along the shore that is now the town of Fairhaven, dividing it into 85 blocks.
When he died in 1890, they say his estate was worth over $100,000 a fortune by today’s standards!
Apparently he also had a temper……..
When a customer refused to pay for a piano, Dirty Dan rolled it down one of the steep hills in town and into Bellingham Bay!😮
The town of Fairhaven now celebrates this story by having an annual “Piano Race” in town Lol!🤣
“Care for a race Honey, I bet I can beat you back down to boulevard Park!”🥰
Enjoy Saturday my friends, Liz and Silvertop are ………..down by the Ocean!🤗
Till tomorrow Silvertop Mike 😊

Yes I can see you looking great. You also gave us beautiful pictures to feed our eyes
That looks like a cool little town, I like the vibe! I hope y'all had fun, my friend! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
It’s a very interesting town. It also is the ending destination of the yearly ski down Mount Baker to the ocean. They called a ski to Sea race!🤗
Looks like Dirty Dan was quite a lean and thin guy! Quite a health conscious guy!
Wonderful photographs you have shared, Mike!

Dirty Dan sounds like a very eccentric character in the town of Fairhaven’s history my friend!😇
At the same time, a very rich man!😊
It was a knick knack paddy whack.

I had no idea that Fairhaven had such a peculiar past and character as Dirty Dan.
I love how the town has turned that anecdote into a fun tradition with the piano race.
Definitely, that place has a lot of charm and personality.

It’s a very unique town situated next to Bellingham. Below the town at the bay is the Alaskan ferry, and Amtrak! So many unique things to see and do!😊

Glad you enjoyed our adventure at the Bay my friend!😊
Have a great Sunday!👍😊
Wow, what an interesting story! Maybe Liz doesn't mind that the man doesn't bathe, since the rain and sun take care of cleaning her. Nice photos. @silvertop 😆
I’m sure back in 1800s bathing wasn’t as common as it is now…🙄🤣
Isn’t it so nice to have indoor bathrooms and showers?🤗☺️
Funny story! Dirty Dan made himself a small fortune but didn't do so by playing the nice guy... Great pictures, looks like you had a fun day in town!
Dirty Dan has been become quite a legend around Fairhaven Lol!😇
He actually plotted the town of Fairhaven himself, and sold off lots for gold!😊
They say he was actually married for a while! I’m not sure what woman would stay with a man that doesn’t ever take a bath Lol!🙄
I wish I had pictures, my friend ….
But it sounds like they are on wheels and they sit on them and compete in a race to the finish at the saltwater Bay Lol!🤣
