Silvertop has put a lot of miles on these boots!💪 I do have a new pair in storage, after all, snow and rain will be coming all too soon!😇
A couple of days ago, I was checking on the depth of the water in the pond at the trailhead …………..
I decided to take a shortcut along the new shoreline, and sank calf deep in smelly wet pond mud!😳
So….. my old hiking boots are looking a bit, you could say……tired Lol!🤣
More logs have been hauled away from the logging clearcut at the top of Silvertop’s road. I decided to hike that way, and see what has changed.😊
On a clear day like today, you can just barely see the skyline of the city of Vancouver British Columbia, off in the distance in the last two photos!😀
I ask ChatGPT for an approximate straight line mileage from my location to downtown Vancouver British Columbia………
“Silvertop, from your location it’s approximately 37 miles, as the crow flies, to downtown Vancouver!”😀
Visibility is extremely good today!👍
Now look at the third to last photo………
Once upon a time, the valley you see looking North into Canada was a shadow lake, called “Sumas Lake”. They started draining this lake in 1923, and by 1924 it was dry farmland!😮
Can you imagine the environmental impact, and red tape, you would have to go through to do that today!
I’m sure it would never happen!🙄
That “Cut” in the Mountains is called the “ Frazier River Valley”.
Bitter cold, and extremely powerful Canadian winter wind “northeasters” blast through this valley, and sometimes howl for days!🥶😳
One more reason Silvertop loves living in the Mountains Lol!😇
