You can see in the third and fourth photo a heavy sheet of rain is making its way North across Sumas Mountain!😮
“Liz, if we are going to check out the water level on the Nooksack River we better hurry……. the rain is coming towards us fast!😅
Recently we discovered that our Pastor at our Church, had a new home built for himself and his Wife, down in the town of Sumas…………
This town sit at 49 feet above sea level, in a “Flood Plain” !🙄
Silvertop sleeps better knowing our home is over 500 feet above sea level, in the foothills of the Mountains!😇
Quickly Liz and Silvertop hiked the “Everson River Trail”, making our way to the rocky shoreline, as the rain continued across Sumas Mountain, coming closer……….
We carefully stepped over large trees, that were carried by the rain swollen river during the last round of heavy rains!
When a heavy rainstorm happens at “Low Tide”, no matter how intense the storm, the river seems to be able to handle the excess water, only rising a few feet in depth!😇
On the other hand, a downpour at High Tide, can have devastating consequences!😳
