I’m not going to lie, this is one transfer rumour I really don’t want to see become reality.
Manchester City are reportedly showing concrete interest in Enzo Fernández, and with Enzo Maresca apparently keen on bringing him to the Etihad, Chelsea could soon have a very difficult decision to make.
And honestly, I’m worried. 😬
Not because I think Enzo is untouchable or that he has been perfect since joining Chelsea. Far from it.
There have been games where he has frustrated me. There have been moments when I expected more from him. But I still believe Chelsea have not yet seen the best of Enzo Fernández.
That is why I would be seriously disappointed if we sold him now.
Think about it for a moment.
Manchester City are one of the best teams in Europe. They have a manager who knows how to get the best out of midfielders, and now Maresca knows Enzo personally during his time at Chelsea.
What if Enzo goes there and suddenly becomes the midfielder we have always wanted him to be?
That would hurt. 😭
And imagine watching him score against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after we sold him. I honestly don't think I have the patience for that kind of pain. 😂💔
Yes, Chelsea reportedly value him at around £120 million, and I completely understand why the club would consider such a huge offer.
£120 million can change a lot of things in a squad.
But money is not always the answer.
If Chelsea are serious about building a team that can compete for the biggest trophies again, we need to stop constantly looking at the next transfer and start developing the quality we already have.
Enzo is still young. He has won the World Cup. He has experience at the highest level. He has already shown that he can produce moments of real quality.
Maybe what he needs is consistency, confidence and the right system around him.
Personally, I'd rather give him another season to prove himself than sell him to Manchester City and spend the next few years wondering whether we made a huge mistake.
Because if Enzo reaches his full potential at City, Chelsea fans will be the ones watching from the other side thinking:
“Why did we let him go?” 😭
So my position is clear.
£120 million or not, I would KEEP ENZO. 💙
Let him fight for his place. Let him improve. Let him prove why Chelsea spent so much money on him in the first place.
