I willl be honest, I was not expecting Alejandro Garnacho's name to become one of the biggest talking points of this transfer window. But here we are. The latest reports suggest Chelsea are ready to let him leave on a permanent deal, and the more I think about it, the more I feel it could work out well for everyone involved.
From what has been reported, Garnacho wants regular first-team football. I honestly can't fault him for that. At this stage of a player's career, the most important thing is not just being at a big club, it's getting on the pitch consistently. You can only develop so much by training every day. Real progress comes from playing competitive matches week in, week out.
Looking at Chelsea's squad, earning a starting spot is not going to be easy. The competition is fierce, especially in the attacking positions. Every player is trying to impress the manager, and there are only so many places available. Sometimes, no matter how talented a player is, things just don't fall into place.
I also understand why Chelsea are reportedly pushing for a permanent transfer instead of another loan. If the club believes Garnacho is not part of the long-term project, then it makes sense to sell him now, bring in a decent transfer fee, and use that money to strengthen other areas of the team.
One thing that caught my attention is how many clubs are said to be interested in him. When teams from different leagues are all keeping an eye on the same player, it says a lot about the quality he has. He clearly has not lost the confidence of clubs around Europe.
