Every transfer window comes with one rumour or another, but this one about Liam Delap possibly leaving Chelsea has made me stop and think. Leeds United are said to be interested in him, and Chelsea are reportedly open to selling if the right offer comes in.
I personally don't think I'd rush to let him go.

Delap is still only 23, and that's not old for a striker. Some of the best forwards didn't become consistent goal scorers until they were a little older. That's why I feel it's too early to decide that he is not good enough for Chelsea.
The truth is, it's not easy for a young striker to break into a club like Chelsea. Competition for places is always tough, and if you are not playing time to time, it's difficult to build confidence. Every player needs a run of games to show what they can really do.
I can also see why Leeds want him. If I were a Leeds fan, I'd probably be excited too. Delap is strong, puts himself about, and never looks afraid to challenge defenders. He has the kind of attitude that supporters usually appreciate.
What worries me is that Chelsea have made similar decisions before. We have watched young players leave, only for them to improve elsewhere and make people question why they were sold in the first place. As a fan, I don't want to see that happen again.
At the same time, I understand football is also about business. If Chelsea receive a big offer, the club will naturally think about it. Maybe they already have other plans for the squad, and selling Delap could help fund another signing.
Even so, I still feel he deserves a fair chance before the club gives up on him. A few appearances here and there are not enough to judge a young striker. Sometimes all a player needs is trust from the manager and a consistent run of matches.
Whether he stays or ends up at Leeds, I truly wish him well. If he remains at Chelsea, I will be hoping he gets more opportunities if stay fit. And if he leaves, I won't be surprised if he goes on to prove a lot of people wrong.
For now, it's just another transfer story, but it's one I'll be keeping an eye on. Hopefully, Chelsea make the right call because I'd hate to see us look back in a few years and wonder why we let another promising young player slip away.
