As a Chelsea fan, losing to Tottenham is never easy, even if it is only a pre-season match. Of course, the result doesn't define the upcoming season, but these games still give us a chance to see how the team is developing, what is working, and what still needs improvement.

The match started with plenty of energy from both sides. Tottenham looked sharp and took the lead through Sandro Tonali, who scored his first goal for his new club. Thankfully, Chelsea did not take long to respond. Estevao's well-taken header brought us back into the game with a precision Gitten cross, and at that point I felt we had the momentum.
The turning point came when Tottenham were reduced to ten men after Kevin Danso was sent off early in the second half. Naturally, I expected Chelsea to take full control from there. Playing with an extra man should have given us the edge, but that was not really the case.
One thing that stood out to me was our inability to make the most of the numerical advantage. We enjoyed more possession, but we lacked the cutting edge in the final third. Credit must also go to Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who made a couple of excellent saves to keep his side in the game. Still, I believe Chelsea needed to be more clinical and create clearer chances.
Just when it looked like the match was heading for a draw, Tottenham broke forward on the counter-attack deep into stoppage time. Richarlison reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box and scored the winner. It was a painful way to lose because it came with almost the final kick of the game.
Despite the disappointment, I don't think Chelsea fans should overreact. Pre-season is all about building fitness, testing new ideas, and helping players understand the manager's system. There were still encouraging moments, especially from Estevao, who continues to impress whenever he gets the opportunity.
There is clearly work to do before the competitive season begins. The team needs to be more ruthless in front of goal and learn how to punish opponents when they are down to ten men. Those are lessons that are much better learned now than later in the Premier League.
It hurts to lose to Tottenham, regardless of the competition, but I would rather the mistakes happen in August than when points are on the line. Hopefully, the coaching staff will take plenty of positives and use this defeat as another step towards building a stronger Chelsea side for the new season.
