Going into the tournament, there were plenty of questions surrounding the United States Men's National Team. Could they handle the pressure? Were they ready to finally live up to the hype surrounding this generation of players? After watching their opening match against Paraguay, many of those questions seem to have been answered.

The final score was 4-1, but honestly, the game felt even more one-sided than that. From the opening minutes, the Americans looked sharp, confident, and determined to make a statement.
The breakthrough came almost immediately when pressure from the U.S. attack led to an own goal in the seventh minute. It wasn't the prettiest goal they'll ever score, but it was exactly the start they needed. And from that moment, their confidence grew with every passing minute.
Folarin Balogun was undoubtedly one of the stars of the night. His movement, finishing, and overall presence caused problems for Paraguay throughout the game. His first goal was the result of excellent teamwork, while his second showed his individual brilliance as he calmly beat defenders before finding the back of the net. By halftime, the United States were firmly in control and playing some of their best football in years.
Christian Pulisic also deserves plenty of credit. Every time he got on the ball, something seemed to happen. His creativity and leadership helped drive the team forward and kept Paraguay under constant pressure.
The second half wasn't completely flawless. Paraguay managed to pull a goal back after a defensive mistake, and for a brief moment it felt like the Americans had switched off. Thankfully, it didn't change the flow of the game. The U.S. still remained in control and continued to create opportunities.
To cap off an already memorable evening, Gio Reyna scored with the last kick of the match, making it 4-1 and sending the fans home with huge smiles on their faces.
What makes the result even more special is that the four goals set a new record for the most goals ever scored by the United States in a World Cup match. Records don't get broken every day, especially ones that have stood for decades.
Of course, it's still early in the tournament, and tougher tests lie ahead. But if this performance is any indication of what's to come, USMNT supporters have every reason to be excited. This wasn't just a win but it felt like a team announcing that it is finally ready for the big stage.
