Hello Hives,
Sometimes, life makes you ask questions you never thought you would ask.
And one of those questions is: Do people really care about me, or do they only care about what I can do for them?
Honestly, this is not always an easy question to answer.

There have been times when I have looked around and wondered why some people suddenly become very close when they need something from me. They call. They send messages. They remember your name. They suddenly want to know how you are doing.
But once you cannot help them, everything changes.
The calls become fewer. The messages stop coming. And sometimes, you begin to wonder if the relationship was ever genuine in the first place.
I think many of us have experienced something like this at one point or another.
Sometimes, we don't even notice it because we are happy to be useful. There is a good feeling that comes with helping someone. When you can solve a problem for somebody, give advice, provide financial support, or connect them with someone, you naturally feel appreciated.
But there is a big difference between being appreciated and being valued.
Someone can appreciate what you do without truly caring about you.
For me, one of the easiest ways to know who truly cares is to look at what happens when you have nothing to offer.
When you are struggling, who checks on you?
When you cannot give money, advice or assistance, who still stays around?
When you are going through a difficult moment and you are the one who needs encouragement, who is willing to listen?
Those moments can reveal a lot about people.
Real care is not always about doing big things. Sometimes it is just a simple message saying, "How are you doing?" Sometimes it is someone remembering something you told them weeks ago. Sometimes it is having somebody around who does not need anything from you.
But I also think we should look at ourselves too.
Are we guilty of treating people the same way?
Do we only remember certain friends when we need their help? Do we call people only when we need a favour?
Human relationships should not feel like business transactions where everyone is calculating what they can get from each other.
At the end of the day, I would rather have a small circle of people who genuinely care about me than a large crowd that only knows me because of what I can provide.
Because situations change. Money comes and goes. Opportunities come and disappear.
But genuine people are priceless.
And when life gets difficult, those are the people you truly want around you.
