The One Meal I'll Never Get Tired Of ‎

in GEMS8 days ago

‎Hi Hives,

‎Everyone has that one meal that they can never say no to, no matter how many other foods they try. For me, that meal is pounded yam with egusi soup. If you put it in front of me today, tomorrow, or even next week, I will ll gladly eat it with a smile.

‎I won't pretend I don't enjoy trying different dishes because I do. It's always interesting to taste something new, especially when visiting a different place or celebrating with friends. But no matter what I eat, I somehow find myself thinking about a plate of pounded yam and egusi soup. It's the meal that always feels like home since it's with I usually eat back in the days while growing up in the village.

‎What I love most is the balance of flavors. A well-prepared egusi soup with fresh vegetables, assorted meat, smoked fish, and just the right amount of seasoning is hard to beat. Then you have the soft, smooth pounded yam that goes perfectly with it. Every bite is satisfying, and before I know it, my plate is empty.

‎The reason I'm so attached to this meal is not just because it tastes good. It also reminds me of family. Growing up, it was one of those dishes we looked forward to, especially on weekends or during special occasions. I still remember everyone sitting together, chatting, laughing, and enjoying the meal. Looking back now, I realize those moments made the food even more special.

‎Another thing I appreciate is that no two pots of egusi soup taste exactly the same. Every household has its own style. Some people like adding more vegetables, others prefer extra meat or dried fish, and each version has its own unique touch. That's part of what makes it such an enjoyable meal.

‎Even though I have a favorite, I don't think being loyal to one dish means refusing to try others. Life is too short not to explore different foods and cultures. But if someone asked me to choose only one meal to eat for the rest of my life, I honestly would not need much time to think about it.

‎Without a doubt, my answer would be pounded yam with egusi soup.

‎For me, food is more than filling an empty stomach. It carries memories, brings people together, and reminds us of where we come from. That's why this meal will always have a special place in my heart. No matter where life takes me or how many new dishes I discover, this is one meal that I will always come back to because it never fails to make me feel at home.

‎Thanks for reading!!!!
