I've been researching AI image and video generation for the past weeks and it's often in the most unexpected places that you get the nicest surprises.
Some time ago, I compared some free plans for image generation and I had realized that you can generate a free image every 10 minutes with peakd. A couple of days ago, I wanted to use this service again and I realized that now you have 3 options to generate free images with peakd.
With HiDream, which is a new open-source image generative foundation, you can create 4 images every 10 seconds and all this completely for free. In other words it's like unlimited free image generation and the result is actually pretty good. While most free images lack quality and detail, HiDream is pretty exceptional.
Some examples:
I generated the title image for this post with HiDream using the following prompt.
Create a blue banner with the following text "Generate your post images directly in Peakd for free", green forest background, text in a white frame and green text
Text consistency is always a bit tricky but HiDream managed it not too badly and I just needed to produce 4 images to get one that I could use. I mixed the model a bit up with my colors but it did a decent job.
In the next example, I prompted the following:
A young woman with blond hair and green eyes walking down a street in an italian small town. evening light and setting sun.
I would say that the result is pretty good. I'm a bit surprised that it looks to be the same woman in all the pictures though. I don't know whether this is due to the limitations of the model or any other reason.
Keeping track of my research
In order not to waste all my time when researching AI sites and platforms, I have created a list with all the AI tools that are free or partially free to use. It's available to everybody and you can access it here. You just need to sign up and then you will get informed when I update the list in the future.
I believe that thanks to AI image generation, we can get even nicer post images because we can tailor them exactly to our needs. It requires a bit of testing and prompt construction structure but I believe it's a skill that will come in handy in the future and now you have the option to try it out as much as you want with peakd. Once you know your way around generating powerful prompts, you can use the paid features on peakd to get even better quality images.
It would be great if peakd integrated also video generation models. I think that this would be another market because I couldn't find any place where you could produce videos and pay as you go without an expensive subscription.
With @ph1102, I'm running the @liotes project.
