Seeds of Surprise: Growing a Garden for Mom (and myself)

in #alive4 days ago

I recently ordered some grow lights from Amazon to kick off my indoor garden project. The lights should be arriving soon. Just yesterday, I placed the order and also took my mother out for an early birthday dinner—her actual birthday is in two days.

The indoor garden is part of her birthday gift, but it’s also a fun experiment for me. Both my mom and I enjoy caring for plants, though we don’t currently have any growing in the house. Lately, I’ve been thinking about the kinds of fruits and vegetables she’d enjoy growing. Fortunately, her tastes are pretty similar to mine, so I’ve already started setting aside seeds and prepping some crops to get things going.

Originally, I was planning to ask her to buy a plant rack for me, but I’ve decided to hold off and make that purchase myself as part of her birthday celebration. Then, when my own birthday rolls around, I’ll see if there’s anything else I need.

During dinner, we didn’t really talk about the garden, so it’ll be a bit of a surprise for her once I get it up and running. I have a feeling she’s going to get really into it—and probably start requesting more crops than I’ll be able to manage with the setup I’ve got. She’s currently on a short vacation in Tampa and won’t be back for another day. Fortunately, the lights are scheduled to arrive tomorrow, so I should have something started by the time she gets home. I think she’ll be happy to see the progress.
