Discipline and obedience to order is the duty of soldier in every armed force.
This is because when soldier is being called to duty, it would mean risking his life on the line and likewise he might receive order that risk his life for the greater good.
Thus to train every new recruit, to ensure that they can transit from civilian to soldier.
Commander would issue very demanding, at times unreasonable orders for them to execute. These command would stay in effect till the next command is given or other command by superior commander supercede previous common to render it ineffective.
Likewise for civilians, whenever a new law is passed by lawmakers and in effect, we all have to abide by the law for as long as it's effective or risk consequences.
