The Symphony Of A Lost Cause! (What Exactly Are We Supposed To Do?)

Well Hello There Fellow Technicians And Hivers!

This Is Serious Crazyness!

A few months back we booked in this car and well to be honest we don't even want to work on it anymore! The car is a huge mess and frankly fixing the transmission isn't going to be the end of the line for it!

So much more money will have to be thrown into it and we just don't think the client will pay!

Oh to top it off nicely! It's a damned Jaguar!

Can you believe!

Let's rip open the transmission and you'll get a good idea of how bad it is!

Oh Dear!

This is what we meant by a massive headache! It's half of the transmission we got and the other half that is here is such a colosal mess that we can't really use anything!

What are we even suppose to do? Fix this up> heck it would be cheaper to get a scrapyard transmission and try to fix that up! This just isn't happening!
The problem is they don't want to let us get a scrapyard transmission!

They did tell us to contact the previous shop, I mean what the fuck even?

The Condition Close Up!?

This in it self is not looking good, I mean we could have worked with just finding a valve-body and a oil sump pan/filter (Sump pans are widely available because the filter is fitted into it.)

But digging deeper would reveal a whole different truth!

I mean I didn't get a photo of the torque converter because fuckit there isn't even one!

Notice Something Odd?

This is an exact copy of the Ford transmission the "6R80" or rather that is a copy of this one! This is the "6HP26/28" Exact copy and just shrunk a little! I swear!

You can find these in the BMW's as well! You can almost reuse the valve-body too!

I mean it wont be perfect but it will for sure turn wheels!

The Symphony Of A Lost Cause!

Now this seriously is a lost cause! This transmission stood a long time without any attention given to it! None at all!

Everything has rust marks and those rust marks has turned into pit marks! Which is not what you want at all right!

Now the pit marks on the outside isn't exactly what the problem is! The problem is the pistons on the inside of these drums! They must be worn to shit by now! With water filled up in them there is no way they can be re-used!

Besides did this transmission run with water in? Most likely it did, most likely the reason why the filter looks the way it does! Absolutely horrific!

Mostly all of the drums looks like this both inside and outside! It's a terrible thing really! The labour on this job is going to shoot through the roof! Hence the question as to is it worth it?

Is it really worth it for us to go through all this and have the client bitching about the price that we are going to ask if he already doesn't want to pay up?

I don't think so at all!
