How HBD workshop/trainings changed my approach

In our last spendhbd workshop, I learned 5 important lesson that will help me do well in subsequent workshop. The main goal of workshop is to reach out to so many people, help many to join hive and give out some gift to many especially the early bird. All arrangements starting from speakers, venue, tools, food/drinks,and time of the workshop should be put into consideration.

Speaker : The speaker must be ready before the time. People should not come before the arrival of the speaker as that can lead to discouragement if he arrives late. He or she should be on hive/hbd branded t-shirt and cap. He or she should be ready to face any challenge that will come up and deliver despite the situation. In some cases, mic may disappoint, slide too may disappoint but if the speaker has prepared well, he will still give out the best. It is not bad if there will
be light music during refreshment.

Timing: During workshop, it is good to stick to the allotted time. It is not good to keep it too long or too short. It should be lively from the beginning to the end. The speaker should have in mind that all in audience are not only Hivers but guest too. When you keep to time, it gives them opportunity to freely ask questions, sign up and make introduction post or practice shopping with hbd.

Allow them to write : Sometimes, to make it easier for our guests, we help them to write. That doesn't promote growth. To avoid that, allow them to login by themselves after helping them to create. Teach them the keys ,then ask them to login with posting keys. I learned that, when the go back home, they try login again on their own and once they can do that, you can guide them online to make post. Our goal is for them to become independent content creators so that they can be more creative not depending on you to tell them what to write all the time.

Be kind to them : It is not always easy to guide this one but you need to be patience and kind. Don't forget how it was for you when you first started. Someone like me, I gave up writing so many times but with patience and kindness showed to me by my mentor, I was able to learn how to write. Hive is not just that social media platform where one can just post, not at all. You must be original here and you know to be original sometimes, people find it difficult so you have to patience to guide them until they can do it on their own. I love introducing them to contest as it it gives topic for one to develop. I also help them to learn how to own down their daily activities, from there, they grow to do other things on hive.

Finally, our last workshop opened my eyes in so many things especially when my guest was asking me how he can be like me in explaining hive to others. As I explained to him how he can do better than me, I learn more. You know a leader must be ahead of those he is leading by educating himself. I won't love to miss any hive workshop because there are so much to learn.
