I hope you're all having a great and productive week. Mine has been smooth and fruitful so far.
It always makes me happy to hear that people in cities like Uyo, Aba, and Lagos can shop using HBD and even earn cashback through the SPENDHBD project. That inspired me to reach out last week to @ivyann and @ijelady to find out what steps are needed for Owerri to join this exciting initiative.
From our conversation, I learned that creating awareness is the first and most important step—especially among local shop owners.
Yesterday, on my way back from work, I stopped by a shop that sells daily-use items to introduce them to the Hive ecosystem and the benefits of accepting HBD. I explained what Hive is and how she, as a shop owner, can benefit from the SPENDHBD project. She was pleased to hear about it, though she mentioned she would like to make more inquiries before registering.
Next, I visited another shop owned by a woman who sells cakes and snacks. She was equally excited about the opportunity and immediately asked about the cost of joining Hive. I followed up with @ivyann to get the necessary details and have since provided her with the information. I hope to onboard her soon, once she fulfills the requirements.
This is just the beginning! I plan to visit more shops to ensure that businesses in Owerri become part of the SPENDHBD project. It would truly be a joy to see our local stores listed on Hive.
